The Florida Gators are just one win away from their first College World Series title ever. Florida ran LSU’s surprise starting pitching choice Russell Reynolds in the fourth inning, scoring three runs in the process, and held on the rest of the way. Brady Singer was absolutely lights out for the Gators, striking out 12 batters in just seven innings of work and besting the Tigers once again. Florida’s dominant pitching staff will be relied upon again on Tuesday night.
This game will take place at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. It will be broadcast on ESPN.

Pitching Matchup
Tyler Dyson has only started one game this season, but will get the biggest start of his life on Tuesday night when he takes to the hill for Game 2.
Dyson has almost exclusively been used out of the bullpen this season. He has seen action in 23 games, pitching 33 innings over the course of the year. The good news is that Dyson is a big-time strikeout pitcher, whiffing 45 batters.
In his one previous start, he was lights out for five innings against Wake Forest. Dyson allowed just two hits and struck out seven in the Super Regional and helped Florida punch its ticket to Omaha. However, he did get rocked by LSU earlier in the season.
Jared Poche will get the ball in this elimination game for the Tigers. Poche has been incredible this season, posting a 12-3 record with a 3.33 ERA.
He has continually come up huge for LSU during its run. In his last start, he set the all-time program record for wins, notching the 39th of his career against Florida State to send the Noles packing in an elimination game.
Poche faced Florida earlier in the season and picked up his first loss of the season in Gainesville. He didn’t have his usual stuff and got chased after allowing 10 to reach base in just four innings of work.
Hitters to Watch
The light hitting Gators only had one player register a multi-hit game on Monday. Austin Langworthy went 2-3 with a double on the evening. He was hitting just .242 on the season, but came through when it mattered.
Nelson Maldonado continues to play through injuries. He drew two walks on Monday, but was unable to get a hit and saw his average dip below .300. Maldonado does draw a ton of walks though and can get on base that way.
Greg Deichmann has been one of the best power hitters in college baseball all season long. He has 19 home runs and is slugging .586 on the season. Deichmann was 2-4 with a double in Game 1 and Gators pitchers need to watch out for him.
Antoine Duplantis is the top hitter on LSU and that continued on Monday. He two went 2-4 and is batting .320 on the season. Duplantis has a little bit of power, but his job mostly is to get on base.
College World Series ATS Pick
Game 1 played out like many expected it would. Florida had the better pitching, but LSU’s hitters were able to have better success. The Gators did exactly what they wanted to do, going straight from Singer to Michael Byrne and saving their bullpen in the process.
LSU has a better starter taking the mound in Game 2, but Poche will need to be able to pitch at least six. The Tigers bullpen is really hurting and needs one of their star pitchers to have a big game. If he gets in trouble early, LSU won’t be able to respond like it normally would.
The Tigers bats will make the difference in this one. Florida was able to stack its baserunners in just the right way, but the Gators bats aren’t as good as LSU’s. Look for LSU to get a multiple run victory here.
