Chicago White Sox at Baltimore Orioles betting odds on WGN Thursday

Thursday is an off day for a good chunk of baseball, and it was scheduled to be that way for the Baltimore Orioles (20-22 SU, -2.70 Units) and the Chicago White Sox (19-23 SU, -6.00 Units) as well. That said, after the riots in Baltimore in April, these teams needed to find time to run through a pair of makeup games. The first of those games will be held on Thursday to kick off a double dip.

ODDS ANALYSIS

The White Sox are really struggling at the moment offensively, and it is costing them big time. They have averaged just 1.88 runs per game in their last seven games, and not surprisingly, they are just 1-6 in those duels. They're also 6-1 for under backers.

Chicago has dropped 7.13 units in that stretch for bettors, erasing a good start to the season and then some.

PITCHING MATCHUP

Chris Sale is going to probably be asked to go deep into this game on Thursday, knowing that there is another game to be played later in the afternoon.

Sale is only 3-2 with a 4.21 ERA, but he has really done a nice job dipping his ERA in recent weeks. The lefty has tossed eight innings in three consecutive starts, allowing a total of just six earned runs in the process with 28 strikeouts against just four walks.

Opposing Sale will be Mike Wright, who will be making just his third big league appearance.

It's been all good for the 25-year old thus far, as he has thrown 14.1 scoreless innings, allowing just seven hits with three walks against 10 strikeouts.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"We lost the game right there in the second inning, giving up two homers. Just have to be down with my pitches, any time, no matter how hard it is. If it's up, they're going to take advantage." – White Sox starter Chris Sale on why he lost his last start against the Twins

SITUATIONAL BETTING

This is a really rough stretch for a Chicago team which hasn't had a day off since May 14. Playing 24 games in 23 days really isn't optimal for any club, but this is what the Sox are on the tail end of. Keep in mind that with the White Sox form at the moment, they have been prone to giving up runs late in games to turn potential wins into losses.

PROP TALK

Jose Abreu is really starting to heat up. He has two homers in his last three games coming into Wednesday night, giving him eight for the season, but we know that he could be ready to go off in this one as well. Remember that this is a man who had 36 dingers last season with 107 RBIs. We haven't seen Wright give up a thing this year, but now that the book is out on him, he might be more hittable.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

This two-game series just seems like it deserves to be a split. Sale is in tremendous form at the moment, and we think that Wright is going to end up being overrated from his first two starts. He won't be the favorite in this game, but we don't think that Sale is going to get enough respect either.

Chicago clearly is the right side for betting purposes in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader.
