Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees betting odds on FOX Saturday

Angels-at-Yankees-MLB-2015-Season

The New York Yankees (29-25 SU, +1.65 Units) have had a history of whipping up on the Los Angeles Angels (28-26 SU, -1.14 Units), having won 22 of the last 30 games between these two in the Big Apple and eight of the last 11 overall.

That bodes extremely well for the hosts on Saturday night.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Not only have the Yankees been playing well at the moment, but they’ve been doing so as underdogs. They swept their series in Seattle with three games as underdogs, and they now have won four of their last five games, all of which have come as pups. This won't be a game in which New York is a dog though, so this could end up being notable to follow.

PITCHING MATCHUP

Though Matt Shoemaker could have started in this spot in the rotation, the Halos are going to go with the man who is arguably their ace, Garrett Richards instead.

Richards is 5-3 with a 3.26 ERA, but he hasn't been quite as sharp as some expected of him. His walk rate is a little high with 24 free passes issued in just 58.0 innings of work, and his 47 strikeouts aren't that fantastic either. We're concerned about his six wild pitches in nine starts, too.

Still, Richards has only allowed more than three earned runs one time this season, and he really hasn't had a game in which LA has been out of it when he departed.

Adam Warren will hope for better fortune in this start than he had in his last outing on Tuesday against Oakland. The righty allowed just two runs over seven innings, but he was hooked with the loss because the offense didn't produce anything for him.

Still, Warren's ERA has dipped to 3.75, and he’s really made the most of his pitches, averaging just 14.3 pitches per inning in his last four starts combined.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"He's pitched really well the last couple of weeks, and I think he's learning how to get quicker outs. His stuff has been sharper, and I think he's been stronger." – Yankees manager Joe Girardi on Warren and his economical approach to starting

SITUATIONAL BETTING

0.00. That's still what Dellin Betances' ERA reads after 29.1 innings of work this year. The righty was beaten out for the closer's role by Andrew Miller in Spring Training, but we know what's coming late in games. If the Yanks have a lead, they're going to turn the ball over to their two fireball-throwing hurlers.

Combined, Miller and Betances have allowed three earned runs over 54.1 innings of work, and have 89 strikeouts between them.

PROP TALK

Richards has allowed one home run in each of his last three starts, but history will tell you that he does a really great job keeping the ball in the yard. Last year, he only gave up five dingers the whole season through 168.2 innings of work.

This current collection of Yankees has had no luck hitting home runs against Richards either. The only bomb off of him belongs to Mark Teixeira, and even he is only 1-of-5 with that home run against him. It could be a long day for the New York bats.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

The Yankees have been winning games with their rotation and not so much with their bats at the moment, and we can foresee there being some more problems in this game as well against a great hurler like Richards.

Warren will be economical once again, and that should cause this game to fly by without all that many runs. Surely, if the Halos are trailing in the late innings, they're in a lot of trouble, but we think that Richards will do just enough to allow for his squad to pull out the dub.
