Miami Marlins at Washington Nationals betting odds on the MLB Network Wednesday

2015-Marlins-vs-Nationals-Bet-Online

The home team has won the last six games between the Miami Marlins (12-14 SU, -4.20 Units) and the Washington Nationals (13-14 SU, -4.32 Units). The home standing Nats will hope that streak continues on getaway day Wednesday afternoon.

ODDS ANALYSIS

The Nationals were truly disappointing over the course of the first several weeks of the season, but since dropping 13 runs on the Braves in consecutive days, they’ve won six out of seven. In that stretch, they’ve picked up 5.04 units for their bettors, and they should once again be favored in this game by a relatively healthy margin as they were in the first game of this set at -163.

PITCHING MATCHUP

Max Scherzer only has a 1-3 record to start off his time with the Nats, but when you look at the rest of his splits, you'll be much more impressed.

Scherzer has allowed just five earned runs this season, and has punched out at least eight batters in four of his five starts. He’s averaged 14 pitches or fewer per inning in four of the five outings as well, and he hasn't had to throw more than 102 pitches in a start even though he’s tossed at least seven innings in four of the five games.

The splits for Tom Koehler, Wednesday's starter for Miami aren't all that impressive either. He has a 4.67 ERA with 18 strikeouts against 10 walks. However, the bottom line is that he has put together four pretty good starts this year to go with one horrifying disaster on the road against the Mets.

Just two weeks ago, Koehler had his best start of the year against these Nationals, tossing 7.1 shutout innings.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"This guy has been fun to have around. He's special. He has been around a long time and accomplished so much. He's going to be a big part of our team, and you've seen that already." – Marlins manager Mike Redmond on Ichiro Suzuki, who has been a huge contributor for the Fish early this season with Christina Yelich on the DL.

SITUATIONAL BETTING

After a tough start of the season, Drew Storen has been money for the Nats. He’s tossed four straight perfect innings, and has thrown a total of just 44 pitches in those frames. When the game gets down to the nitty-gritty, Washington knows it’s in good hands.

PROP TALK

Giancarlo Stanton has hit more home runs (23) in his career against the Nationals than any other team combined. He's a .318 hitter against them in his career, and he is a .319 hitter for his career in the month of May. All of the signs are there pointing towards the slugger having a really good end to this series for sure.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

Scherzer is going to be the overwhelming favorite in this game, but we aren't so sure that is justified to be the case. The Fish can play, and they can play on the road just as easily as they can play at Marlins Park.

With the way that Stanton has been hitting the ball early in the season parlayed with the fact that Koehler has, if nothing else, been generally consistent, the makings are there for this to be a big upset for the Marlins.
