MLB Betting Online: The American League East may be the deepest division in the major leagues, and the Baltimore Orioles are hoping to hold off the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox for the title. It would set them up well heading into the playoffs, but only a couple games separates all three teams. The Orioles will aim to remain atop the pack with a win over the Chicago White Sox when the teams face off on Saturday, August 6th, 2016, at Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois. The Orioles are on the road but could be favored in MLB betting.

ODDS ANALYSIS

The Orioles are 61-45 on the season and in first place, but the Blue Jays and Red Sox are on their tails, while the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros are pushing for wild card berths. It’s a tightly-packed American League playoff race and Baltimore hopes to find a postseason spot at the end of the regular season slate.

The Chicago White Sox started off hot but are now just 51-56 and pretty much out of postseason contention. The team traded for starting pitcher James Shields and hopes to make a playoff run but has fallen back and isn’t getting enough offense despite playing in a hitter-friendly home ballpark.

PROBABLE PITCHERS

The Orioles will send Chris TIllman to the hill as he aims to continue a strong season. Tillman is 14-3 on the season with a 3.46 ERA and has been an integral part in keeping the team atop the A.L. East. Tillman hasn’t been a dominant ace during his career but is clearly having a nice season and will aim to keep it going against a feeble White Sox offense.

Chicago will counter with talented but enigmatic right-hander Carlos Rodon. While he’s got very impressive stuff, Rodon hasn’t completely harnessed it yet and enters with a record of 2-8 with a 4.67 ERA. Rodon is capable of putting together a dominant outing but it won’t be easy against a tough Orioles lineup.

LIVE BETTING

The Orioles have scored 500 runs on the season, which is among the better offenses in the majors. Mark Trumbo has been a big part of that, as he is batting .267 with 30 homers and 76 RBIs on the year. Third baseman Manny Machado is the team’s superstar, as he combines terrific glovework with a .304 average, 22 home runs and 58 RBIs. Adam Jones and Chris Davis are a pair of two more veterans who swing the bat effectively.

The White Sox have some big names, but they haven’t produced as expected. First baseman Jose Abreu is batting .269 with only 11 home runs and 56 RBIs. Todd Frazier has the power numbers, as he has crushed 30 home runs on the season, but is batting just .215. Melky Cabrera has been the most consistent player with a .307 average and has nine homers and 49 RBIs.

QUICK PICK

Both of these teams were playoff hopefuls a month ago, but the White Sox have fallen by the wayside while the Orioles have remained. Both the Blue Jays and Red Sox have better run differentials than Baltimore, so it will really need to play well over the final two months of the season to secure a playoff berth. The Orioles haven’t been very good on the road this year but could be favored to knock off the reeling White Sox on the strength of Tillman and the offense in MLB betting.
