MLB Live Betting: Yankees at Tigers Odds

2016-Yankees-at-Tigers-Betting-Lines

After a disappointing 2015 that saw the Detroit Tigers go from division winners to cellar dwellers in the AL Central, the Tigers are looking to once again contend for a playoff spot in 2016. The Tigers are off to a good start, sweeping a two game series from the Marlins in Miami to kick off the year and now they ready themselves for their first home series of the season against the New York Yankees.

You can bet on MLB odds at BookMaker.eu every day of the season.

ODDS ANALYSIS

The Yankees won both series played against the Tigers last season, beating the Tigers in Comerica three games to one and beating them at home two games to one. In Comerica Park, the Tigers gave up 21 runs while only scoring eight.

Detroit’s bats are off to a hot start this season which is a good sign after being a below average team in scoring runs in 2015. Ironically enough, the Tigers led the American League in hits last season, but led all teams in baseball with the amount of double plays they hit into by a wide margin and that wasted a lot of the scoring opportunities.

Ian Kinsler is 5-for-11 on the season and Victor Martinez has gone yard in each of his at-bats. If those two can hit at a solid level and Miguel Cabrera does what Miggy does, Detroit will be a solid offense all season.

The Yankees stranded the most baserunners in the AL last season, but still managed to tally the second most runs in the league, only behind Toronto. This offensive prowess led the Yankees to a wild card berth where they were disposed of by Dallas Keuchel and the Astros.

Keuchel topped the Yankees again on Opening Day, but New York’s bats bounced back in a big way the following day, chasing Collin McHugh after just a third of an inning and tallying 12 runs in the first three innings. Mark Teixeira and Starlin Castro both hit dingers and combined to drive in nine in the win.

The Castro acquisition may be one of the most important of the offseason after he looked great in Spring Training and continues to look great very early in the season.

PROBABLE PITCHERS

Both teams will bring their aces to the mound for Sunday Night Baseball with the Yankees throwing Masahiro Tanaka and the Tigers pitching Justin Verlander.

Tanaka pitched decently against the Astros on Opening Day, allowing five baserunners and two earned in five and two-thirds but was gassed after just 87 pitches which is a little worrisome for Yankees fans. He faced the Tigers twice last season, pitching very well in a win at Detroit but got rocked at home when Victor and J.D. Martinez combined to hit three home runs off of him.

Verlander hasn’t beaten the Yankees since 2012 and looked like his old self through the first five innings of his Opening Day start against the Marlins not allowing a hit. Then, the sixth inning happened. He allowed five baserunners and three earned in the bottom of the sixth and to add insult to injury failed to get the win after Francisco Rodriguez blew a save in the bottom of the ninth by giving up three runs.

In Verlander’s one start against the Yankees last season, he gave up 10 hits, including three home runs, en route to his first losing decision of the year.

LIVE BETTING SCENARIO

Alex Rodriguez stranded eight baserunners against Houston on Wednesday, but has a great history against Verlander. A-Rod is hitting .421 with four home runs and six RBIs against him in 19 at-bats and betting on his props against Verlander may be a wise move.

Conversely, Mark Teixeira only has two hits off Verlander over 19 at-bats lifetime.
