The defending World Series champion Royals will look to put an end to their woes against the division rival Indians when the teams lock horns for the third of four on Saturday night in Cleveland.

ODDS ANALYSIS

KC went into Thursday night’s series opener with the Tribe riding high amidst a six game winning streak. Every single one of those games occurred in the comforts of Kauffman Stadium where they check in 19-7 and up north of $1100 for baseball bettors. The road has been an entirely different story for Ned Yost’s outfit with the club five games under .500 and down $422 for the season.

The Royals ended 2015 seven games over the breakeven point as visitors, and until they can figure out how to play .500 ball, they can’t be taken as serious contenders to pull off the repeat.

Cleveland has fought all the way back from a rough April to claw to four games over .500 after rattling off back-to-back wins against the Rangers and Royals – a pair of first place teams. The Tribe have been an incredibly tough team to gauge for baseball bettors throughout the Terry Francona regime. Just when you think they’ve turned it around, they go on a swoon. When you think they’ve thrown in the towel, they rattle off multiple game winning streaks.

As it is, the team sports identical records both at home and on the road and ranks No. 14 on the money earned list with a deficit of $131.

PITCHING MATCHUP

An interesting pitching matchup is set to go in this one with Ian Kennedy in search of his fifth win of the season against Josh Tomlin who was given an opportunity to start and run with it.

Kennedy was much maligned a year ago for stinking out loud in San Diego. Most crazy about his effort last year is that Petco Park is one of the best pitcher parks in the bigs, but he struggled mightily there. However, things have changed in 2016 with the veteran pitching to a 3.03 ERA and .217 BAA. He’s allowed just 7.2 hits per nine innings and 20 ERs over just under 60 innings of work. There’s no doubt a much better defense in back of him has played a large role in his turning his career around in Kansas City.

Cleveland’s starting staff owns a collective 4.18 ERA – No. 13 in the league. Making a huge contribution towards that above average mark is Josh Tomlin who leads the team in wins with seven. While he’s given up 53 hits through 54.2 innings of work, he’s only allowed 23 earned runs to cross the plate and walked a grand total of six batters. Those stats scream to me that he’s getting it done with smoke and mirrors. Especially when he’s averaged just over six Ks per nine. The Royals don’t strike out as it is, so it’s going to be extremely tough for him to escape this one unscathed.

LIVE BETTING SCENARIO

Ian Kennedy has been the Royals best starter thus far, so bringing him over in the offseason has certainly panned out. While he’s been better at home than on the road, he’s fared well against the Indians in the past and has the better bullpen backing him up.

Keep an eye on Tomlin’s pitch count for live betting purposes. He’s been at his best when averaging between 12 and 13 pitches per inning. Kansas City makes you work for it though, so if that pitch count surpasses his comfort zone, fire away on the defending champs on the readjusted live betting lines.
