The Royals have enjoyed plenty of success against the Twins recently, including a three-game sweep earlier in the season. A visit to the Twin Cities might be just what KC needs to get over the hump and make a run in the AL Central.

ODDS ANALYSIS
The Royals couldn’t finish off a sweep in their last road series but likely won’t complain considering their recent struggles away from home. Kansas City won the first two games of a critical series against the White Sox over the weekend before falling 3-2 on Sunday for just their second loss in seven games. Kansas City had dropped 12 of 15 on the road before visiting Chicago and its nine road wins are among the fewest in baseball.
Continuing their road trip, the Royals visit the Twins, who are as bad at Target Field as the Royals are away from home. Minnesota endured its ninth loss in 10 home games Sunday, 3-1 to Toronto. The Twins snapped a lengthy home skid and a five-game overall losing streak with a 5-3 victory on Sunday. The Royals swept a three-game set in KC in early April as part of Minnesota’s opening nine-game slide. The teams combined for seven runs in each contest, cashing the under each time.
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Dillon Gee (1-1, 2.90 ERA) logged five solid innings in his last outing against the White Sox to earn his first win as a starter since September 2014. He allowed just one run on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts. It was his second start of the year due to injuries in the Royals’ rotation.
In his two starts Gee has tossed 10.1 innings with 10 strikeouts and sports a 3.48 ERA. He tossed two shutout innings against the Twins in relief on Apr. 10 and has yet to allow an earned run against them in 9.2 innings covering two appearances.
Tyler Duffey (1-3, 3.30 ERA) is coming off his worst start of the year as he gave up six runs over 5.2 innings against Toronto on Friday. He ran into trouble in the sixth yielding a three-run homer to Jose Bautista and five runs total before getting yanked. He had allowed just five runs in his previous four starts.
It was Duffey’s first poor outing in five starts since being recalled from Triple-A and his ERA ballooned from 1.85 to 3.30. He’ll face AL Central division rival Kansas City for the first time in his brief career.
LIVE BETTING
The Royals activated third baseman Mike Moustakas off the disabled list over the weekend and their lineup may finally be intact. That’s if Alex Gordon can swing a bat after tweaking his wrist in a collision with Moose on Sunday. With Moustakas back in the lineup, the Royals’ roll could be far from over. While those two are a big part of the roster, Gordon is still hitting around .212 and Moustakas will likely need a few games to get back in a groove after missing time with a thumb injury.
One player who has carried the load in the meantime is center fielder Lorenzo Cain, who went 5 for 12 with a double, homer and two RBIs over the weekend in Chicago. He can fatten those numbers even more against the Twins. Cain has batted .371 in his past 10 games against the Twins and .407 in his last seven in Minnesota. He’s posted a .337 average while recording at least one hit in 20 of his last 22 contests.
QUICK PICK
The Royals busted out of their road slump by knocking off division-leading Chicago twice in three games over the weekend. A welcome sight indeed for a team that was just 7-13 entering that MLB series. Now, the Royals get the floundering Twins, who have had a tough time winning anywhere this year. It’s been worse lately, if that’s even possible, with their de facto ace Duffey getting cuffed around in his last outing.
Gee has been solid in his fill-in role and has appeared to regain the form that had him on the top of the Mets rotation a few years back. It couldn’t have come at a better time for KC, who badly needed help after Chris Young and Kris Medlen both went on the DL. The Royals lineup also got an infusion with the return of Moustakas. KC has an opportunity to put a successful stretch together and the Twins are just the right opponent.
