MLB Odds: Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees Betting Preview

2016-Angels-Vs-Yankees-Online-Odds

A pair of teams with identical underachieving sub .500 records will partake in the third of a four-game extended series on ?Thursday night when Mike Trout and the Angels look to improve upon their road record against the floundering Yankees.

You can bet on MLB odds at BookMaker.eu every day of the season.

ODDS ANALYSIS

These teams are almost carbon copies of one another with the Angels possessing the better overall offense, and the Yankees owners of the better overall pitching staff. Regardless, these teams aren’t much to write home about evidenced by the Halos checking in at 55-1 to win the World Series and the Yankees installed as 30-1 underdogs.

That said, LA enters this series in a little better form having split their last 10 games which includes just taking two of three from the Pirates at PNC Park. NY has come out on top in just four of its last 10 and just closed out a 10 game road trip by dropping two of three to the Orioles.

PROBABLE PITCHERS

Getting the starting nod for the twelfth time this season will be veteran right hander Jered Weaver. He’s the team leader in wins with five, but that hardly speaks highly of this starting staff which owns the league’s No. 20 ERA at 4.53. Once a flamethrower, Weaver is nothing short of a junk baller now that uses different arm angles to keep opposing batters off base. Giving up nearly two home runs per nine innings, this soft tosser can’t be trusted in a ball park like this that sees balls hit the cheap seats with a flick of the wrist.

The Yankees starting staff hasn’t been much better than tonight’s opponent’s, but Nathan Eovaldi looks to be coming into his own as opposed to Weaver who’s more or less in his swan song season. If not for being in the last year of a huge money deal, Weaver would likely be watching games on the TV instead of pitching in them. That said, Eovaldi also comes with his warts. The righty just hasn’t been able to take advantage of his exceptional back end of the bullpen by averaging just 5.9 innings per start. If he could find a way to build the bridge to his stud arms in the pen more often, he could become one of the better pitchers in the league.

LIVE BETTING

The Yankees have dominated this rivalry having won the overall series in each of the last three seasons. They scored wins in four of the six meetings last season, and pulled the same feat the previous season as well. The over is 9-7 in these team's last 16 skirmishes.

It’s been even worse for the Halos in the Bronx where they’ve come out on top in just two of their last 10 visits. The over cashed in six of those matchups.

QUICK PICK

I seriously can’t believe Weaver has been able to reinvent himself to the point that he’s logged five wins this season. I’m of the belief he’s doing it with smoke and mirrors, and it’ll only be a matter of time until he’s not leading the Halos into battle. His 5.18 ERA and 1.48 WHIP has to catch up to him sooner or later, and with him the not so proud owner of a 8.71 ERA and .328 BAA in Yankee Stadium lifetime, that time could be now.

Eovaldi offers up much more value in this matchup, and though you’ll be forced to lay chalk with a Yankees offense lacking in the thump department, I can’t help but think the home team gets healthy in this spot.
