The Diamondbacks strolled into ATT Park last month and delivered just the second four-game sweep to the Giants since they moved to the waterfront ballpark. It’s time for the Giants to try and get a little payback on their NL West rivals.

ODDS ANALYSIS
The NL West is up for grabs and the Giants and Diamondbacks are right in the thick of the hunt. After getting swept in a three-game set in Miami to open a nine-game road trip, Arizona won the next five to climb near the top of the standings.
The Giants were trending the other direction, losing for the third straight time and fifth in seven games in Tuesday’s shutout loss to the Blue Jays. The teams finished play on Tuesday with identical 17-18 records, tied with Los Angeles in the win column but with two more losses than the first place Dodgers. The teams met in San Francisco last month with the D-Backs handing the Giants just their second four-game sweep at ATT Park, outscoring the hosts 20-10 while finishing in the red 5.22 units on the moneyline.
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Jeff Samardzija (4-2, 3.17 ERA) was a tough-luck loser Sunday, allowing just two runs with nine punchouts and one walk over 7.2 innings in a 2-0 loss to Colorado. The hard throwing righty matched his season-high in strikeouts and lowered his ERA to 3.17, but the Giants inability to mount any sort of offensive attack cost him a chance to win his fourth straight decision.
Samardzija has been up and down this season, as he often can be, but has been sharp in his last two outings by allowing just three runs on 11 hits over 15.2 innings. He threw 123 pitches in his last start and has struggled during his career at Chase Field with a 5.02 ERA and 14 walks over 14.2 frames.
The Atlanta Braves can cure plenty of ills, and so it was for Shelby Miller (1-3, 7.36 ERA), who picked up his first win of the season Saturday against his former team. He allowed two runs on four hits over six innings and lowered his ERA by over a run, though it’s still an unsightly 7.36. It was Miller’s first quality start of the year in seven tries and matched his longest outing.
Miller lasted just two-plus innings when he faced the Giants on Apr. 21. He was lifted after walking the first four hitters in the third inning and issued five total in the game. Miller leads the NL with 21 walks in 29.1 innings and has issued at least four in three of his past four outings.
LIVE BETTING
After struggling to build on a breakthrough 2013 in the past two seasons, Jean Segura made a minor adjustment to his batting stance this offseason. The D-Backs have been reaping the benefits over the first five weeks. Segura hit .294 with 12 home runs for Milwaukee in 2013, but batted just .252 with 11 homers over the next two seasons.
Acquired in a trade with the Brewers in January, Segura adjusted his stance in spring training and went 11 for 22 in his first five MLB regular season games. He’s on a roll again, hitting safely in all seven games he played during the team’s road trip and eight straight overall. He has 13 hits in 33 trips during his streak, raising his average to .350 with five homers, 17 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He had seven hits in 20 at-bats with four RBI’s and four runs scored when the D-Backs swept the Giants last month.
QUICK PICK
The Giants managed just one hit off Miller when they faced him last month, but his wildness led to an early hook after five walks among the 12 batters he faced. Miller produced his best outing of the year in his last start, a sign that he may be regaining his form. But, that was against the offensively-challenged Braves. So, until we see more from him against some stiffer competition, it’s too early to say he’s turned the corner.
On the other side, Samardzija has been effective through his first seven starts. He missed the D-Backs during the four-game set last month and gets his first crack against them this year. He should control Arizona’s bats enough to let his mates get to Miller.
