MLB Odds: Texas Rangers at New York Yankees Betting Preview

ESPN Tuesday Night Baseball-ODDS-27

After taking care of the Boston Red Sox at home over the weekend, the AL West leading Texas Rangers will set their sights on another AL East rival when it heads to the Bronx to battle the Yankees in the second of an extended four game series.

You can bet on MLB odds at BookMaker.eu every day of the season.

ODDS ANALYSIS

The Rangers were the best overall bet in baseball a season ago having reeled their wagering supporter sin upwards of $2950 for the season. Through 76 games played to date, Jeff Bannister’s squad is once again the toast of MLB bettors with it making a cool $2895 for a $100 bettor. In owning the best record in the American League, the ‘Gers are currently the favorites to represent the league in the World Series at +350 and + 900 to win it.

That’s simply just not the case for Joe Girardi’s troops who at 37-37 find themselves in fourth place of the AL East and longshots to make any kind of noise come October. The club enters this series on a high having won six of its last 10, but most of those wins were tallied against sub .500 teams Colorado and Minnesota. NY is an 18-1 underdog to win the World Series, but its 21-16 and up $134 as a host to date as well as 12-8 versus AL West opposition.

PROBABLE PITCHERS

Cole Hamels to the Rangers before the trade deadline last season had many scratching their head. The lefty ventured to an unfriendly pitcher’s park to face the DH, but has done nothing but succeed since donning a Texas jersey and it doesn’t look like he’ll be giving in any time soon. He’s the staff leader in ERA (2.79), wins (8) and WHIP (1.22). The ‘Gers have won 11 of his 15 overall starts and he’s been at his absolute best away from Arlington where he’s a perfect 5-0 with a 1.64 ERA and miniscule 0.99 WHIP.

That said, he’s had major issues with the Yanks throughout his career in going 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA and .301 batting average against. He’s also surrendered 16 hits and 7 ER through 11 career innings pitched at Yankee Stadium.

C.C Sabathia looked all but cooked at the beginning of the season failing to go five innings in two of his first three starts. Since then, he’s been an innings eater and quality start machine in putting forth quality efforts in seven of his last nine starts, and had allowed three or fewer runs in eight straight before the Colorado Rockies blew him up his last time out.

While Texas sits a couple games over .500 versus lefties for the season, it much prefers to his against right-handed pitching. Sabathia is 11-5 in his career against the Rangers and will no doubt go all out for his squad in this one.

LIVE BETTING

For all intents and purposes, Prince Fielder has been a major bust since being acquired by Texas. He’s batting a wretched .210 for the season and has only gone deep six times, but he’s collected at least one hit in each of his last eight games and left the yard twice against Boston pitching over the weekend.

He’s batting .263 against Sabathia lifetime with a home run and 4 RBI. His hot bat might just be one to target once player props are released for this game.

QUICK PICK

While the Rangers are currently on a roll and they’ve won six of their last nine visits to Gotham, I’m going to lean CC and the Yanks way in this one. NY has won each of his last three starts, and Hamels has had nothing but issues in this ball park and against the Yankees throughout his career.

The Yanks just became a .500 club over the weekend, and I don’t expect them to just roll over and relinquish that feat so quickly.

MLB Odds: Yankees 3, Rangers 2
