Orioles-at-Athletics.km

The Baltimore Orioles are staying ahead of their rivals in the American League East, and can help keep up their advantage with a victory over the Oakland Athletics. The teams will play on Thursday, August 11th, 2016, at Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California. Even though Baltimore is one the road it could be the favorite in MLB wagering.

ODDS ANALYSIS

The Orioles are 63-48 on the season, but the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox are both on their heels. Baltimore has the worst run-differential of the three teams but has the advantage in the standings and will aim to win the division and qualify for the postseason.

The Athletics are 49-63 on the year and out of postseason contention. Oakland is one of the worst teams in the American League as its offense has been bad and the pitching hasn’t been able to pick up the slack.

PROBABLE PITCHERS

The Orioles will send right-hander Chris Tillman to the mound. The Baltimore rotation is one of its weakest links but Tillman has been very good this year with a record of 14-4 with a 3.50 ERA. Tillman doesn’t have ace stuff but has performed like one in 2016.

The A’s will send Andrew Triggs to the mound. He has mostly been pitching in relief but has just a 5.35 ERA on the year, albeit in limited innings. Triggs has been impressive in the minor leagues but that hasn’t translated to the major league level, and it will be tough to string together a nice performance against the Orioles’ bats.

LIVE BETTING

Baltimore’s strength is in its offense. The team is fifth in the American League in runs scored. Third baseman Manny Machado leads the way with a .307 batting average, 25 homers, 67 RBIs and a .923 OPS. Mark Trumbo is a big bopper in the middle of the lineup as he has 31 homers and 77 RBIs. Chris Davis, Adam Jones and Jonathan Schoop have also been productive hitters for the Orioles.

The Athletics don’t have nearly as many big bats. Khris Davis leads the way with a .251 average, 27 homers and 69 RBIs, while shortstop Marcus Semien has been a nice piece with a .236 average, 23 homers and 54 RBIs. However, Oakland has a lot of players who have underperformed and recently traded away big bat Josh Reddick, so it will be tough to score runs the rest of the way.

QUICK PICK

The Orioles have the better pitcher on the mound and a more potent offense. Even though the A’s get this game at home, it still feels like this will be an uphill battle for them. If TIllman continues his impressive pitching, the Orioles should be able to pull out the win. Treggs has some potential but has yet to prove himself in the big leagues, and this is a big-time challenge for him in MLB wagering.
