The Royals have gone 8-2 in their past 10 games to improve to 69-62 on the season. They have been hanging around .500 for much of the season but have now moved into wild card contention. The offense struggled for a long stretch especially when outfielder Alex Gordon and third baseman Mike Moustakas collided, which sent both to the disabled list for a long time. The Tigers should have the starting pitching advantage as they will send out star rookie Michael Fulmer. He is 10-5 on the season with a 2.69 ERA and could give the Royals offense fits if he continues to pitch this well.

The Tigers could very well be the road favorites in this one, and they could still be the right team to choose to cover the spread and come away with the victory.
