Offenses awaken, good case for under play in live betting between Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4 of ALCS

ALCS-Game-4-Oct20

It's so easy to get caught up in the fact that there were 19 runs scored in Game 3 of the ALCS between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals. Live bettors though, should be looking for any opportunity to bet the under in Game 4 of this series on Tuesday.

PITCHING MATCHUP

We get it. It's tough to like a pitching matchup of Chris Young against R.A. Dickey, especially when we're talking about live betting the under. But hear us out a little bit.

The Royals haven't seen a lot of Dickey historically, and the one time these two crossed paths this year, the knuckleball was humming. Dickey allowed just two hits and two walks in seven shutout innings. Many of the KC batters looked incredibly foolish at the plate, and that very well could happen again.

We're a little worried about what might happen next once Dickey is pulled, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there for live bettors. As it is, we suspect Dickey will make it longer than his 4.2 innings from the series against the Rangers.

Chris Young has made just two starts since the start of August for the Royals, but he's going to get the ball in Game 4 of the ALCS. It's the first time Ned Yost has had to call upon a fourth starter for these playoffs after using just three men for the first three games, and the situation has to be uncomfortable, especially against a potent lineup which just slugged its way to 11 runs on the Royals about 20 hours ago.

Still, Young was great on short notice in relief against the Astros, tossing four awesome innings and allowing just one run. If Yost can get four spotless frames out of Young on Tuesday, it'll be considered a win.

ADVANCED STATS

Take nothing away from the Toronto offense. This team can score runs in bunches, and the fact that it dropped a six-spot an inning after playing three early on against Kansas City in Game 3 was a great showing.

All of the big bats got on base at least once, and typically, here at home, there's a lot for opposing pitchers to worry about.

But let's worry about the Royals for a second and remember that they've scored at least five runs in five straight games now.

Kendry Morales is slugging .700 for the postseason, while Alcides Escobar is batting .583 at the top of the order. Seven of the nine offensive starters got at least one hit on Monday, and it's clear to us that the Royals are never out of a game for live betting purposes.

TALKING BULLPENS

Here's the other case for the under in live betting. These bullpens weren't taxed all that much in Game 3 in spite of the fact that matters were close. Roberto Osuna will have no problems pitching on a second straight day if necessary, as he and all of the rest of his mates who threw in relief a day ago threw a dozen pitches or fewer.

Kansas City has an even better spot on its hands. Wade Davis almost has to pitch at least one inning in this game at this point after only throwing one inning this entire series to date. Kelvin Herrera and the gang also generally benefit after an off day.

Yes, the Royals basically punted Game 3 after falling behind early, wasting Kris Medlen and keeping everyone else possible from picking up a baseball. That decision though, might prove to be the difference in live betting on Tuesday.
