2017-NCAAB-BYU-at-Gonzaga-(ESPN2)-Betting-Odds

The Gonzaga Bulldogs have a chance to make history this weekend. The No. 1 ranked team enters its last regular season matchup against the BYU Cougars with a record of 29-0 and are now just one win away from capturing Gonzaga’s first ever undefeated season.

BYU is, of course, hoping to be the spoiler in Spokane Saturday, but it won’t easy. The Cougars enter this contest with a record of 20-10 and have gone 0-3 against ranked teams this season, including an earlier season loss to the Bulldogs.

At 10 p.m. ET, tune into ESPN2 for live television coverage of this NCAA basketball game on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Washington.

Gonzaga is 29-0 straight up and an impressive 21-6-1 against the spread. The Bulldogs have covered in 11 of 14 attempts at home this season and will aim to keep that up. Gonzaga has been the favorite in every game this season and it won’t change in this one.

BYU is 20-10 straight up and 11-15-1 against the spread. The Cougars have not performed very well on the road thus far, covering only two times in eight attempts. BYU is 1-4-1 as the underdog on the season and hopes to improve as it will get some points in this contest.

Matchup to Watch

47. That’s how many rebounds Gonzaga had against BYU in their first matchup this season. The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Cougars 47-34, despite being the weaker team on the boards on paper. The Bulldogs have the more talented roster, so if they are able to clean up the glass like that again, they shouldn’t have too much trouble pulling out another victory.

Behind forwards Eric Mik and Yoeli Childs, BYU is averaging 42.2 rebounds a game this year. Gonzaga is averaging 40.4 rebounds per game.

In a competitive conference matchup like this one, every advantage matters. It will be interesting to see if Gonzaga can dominate the boards again this weekend, or if BYU can do a better job in that area.

Some of that comes down to hustle, and the Bulldogs know what’s at stake as they try to finish the season undefeated, so there will be no shortage of intensity throughout.

Player to Watch

Nigel Williams-Goss -- The junior guard was a large part of the reason Gonzaga beat BYU the first time around on February 2nd, finishing with 33 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the Bulldogs’ 85-75 win over its West Coast Conference foe. He’ll be looking to duplicate that type of performance this weekend, especially with a chance to make history on the line.

Williams-Goss is averaging 16.3 points and 4.8 assists this season. He put up a season-high 36 points back in January against San Francisco and also scored 30 points against the team in a rematch two weeks ago.

Since returning from an ankle injury in early February which caused him to miss a game, Williams-Goss has been solid, averaging 20.3 points per game in four games. The junior leads an offense that is averaging 85.4 points per game.

Gonzaga may not be the favorite to win the national championship since it is coming from a small conference, but there is every reason to believe it is in that mix. The Bulldogs have answered every question thus far and will look to put the finishing touches on a perfect regular season.

The Bulldogs have a ton of talent, and while BYU is often one of its toughest foes, getting this game at home should make it an easy outcome. Take Gonzaga in a rout as a dream regular season ends the way every other game has thus far -- with a victory.

The spread could be pretty large, so take that into account. BYU will have a better shot at covering, but if the Bulldogs play to their capability they could win this one with ease.

College Basketball Odds: Gonzaga 85, BYU 72
