He has scored 20 points or more in three of the last five games he’s played. Sumner seems to be peaking at the right time and will look to continue in that direction this weekend.
Player to Watch
Rodney Pryor – The Georgetown senior is the team’s leading scorer last night and the Hoyas will look to him to keep this one close. Pryor had 20 points and seven rebounds in the first matchup against Xavier last month.
He is averaging 17.7 points per game right now, but has lacked the spark lately. Pryor finished without a single point in the Hoyas loss to Butler on January 7th and has averaged 13 points a game in the three games since.
Pryor opened the season on a high note, putting up 32 points and USC Upstate and also scored 30 points against Coppin State on November 30th. It’s a good time for the senior to have a big game and the Hoyas could really use him.

Georgetown kept the first matchup close, which should give it some confidence heading into the rematch. However, the venue has now flipped to Xavier’s home, which is going to increase the expectation for the Musketeers to take care of business.
Xavier headed into a tough recent stretch playing well but couldn’t manage a win over ranked opponents Villanova, Butler or Creighton. The Musketeers have fallen off into the middle of the pack in the Big East and are in danger of falling out of the top-25.
The Musketeers are still in favorable position to qualify for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament but must get back on track. This is the opportunity to do so as Georgetown has been struggling throughout the season.
While Xavier may not be one of the elite teams in the Big East, it is superior to the Hoyas and plays this game at home, which should end up in a victory.
