The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have an outside shot of making March Madness, but need to rack up some victories in the ACC Tournament to turn the heads of the selection committee. Their journey will begin with a matchup against the Pittsburgh Panthers.
It seems like a loss in this one will keep Georgia Tech out of the NCAA Tournament, so there will be plenty of intensity. The Yellow Jackets are the higher seed and performed well during the regular season. Since this game is being played at a neutral site, Georgia Tech will be the favorites.
Pittsburgh is under .500 on the season and will try to play spoiler in this matchup and extend their season a little longer.

Last Meeting
These two teams faced off just five days ago, so it’s a good barometer of what to expect in this one. Georgia Tech started slowly in that one but was able to rally in the second half and come away with a 61-52 victory.
The Panthers held a 28-25 lead at halftime but could get nothing going offensively in the second half. They shot just 37.7 percent from the field and will need to be more efficient to have a shot at pulling this upset.
Georgia Tech was led by Ben Lammers, who had 20 points, four rebounds and two steals while hitting 8-of-13 shots from the floor. Michael Young led Pitt with 16 points.
Player to Watch
Lammers -- The Georgia Tech junior center is the most impactful player in this game. He is averaging 14.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and an impressive 3.3 blocks per game. Lammers is a big piece on both ends of the court, one of the Yellow Jackets’ top scorers and its best interior defender.
Pittsburgh had trouble scoring in the first matchup in part because of Lammers’ presence. He is shooting 51.8 percent from the field and has really burst onto the scene this year. Lammers would love to lead Georgia Tech to March Madness and a big game in this one will keep that dream alive.

While Georgia Tech is the better team, Pittsburgh proved in the first half of their initial meeting that this could be a competitive matchup. The Yellow Jackets, though, are a touch more talented and have a lot more motivation.
If Georgia Tech loses this one, it won’t be making the NCAA Tournament. It will likely take more than just one victory for the Yellow Jackets to get in, but this has to be the start. Lammers could be the key as Pittsburgh will have trouble slowing him down.
Expect this one to be a grind-it-out type game. Pittsburgh will prove to be a thorn in the side of Georgia Tech, but the Yellow Jackets should be able to make enough plays down the stretch to squeak out a victory and keep their NCAA Tournament dreams alive at least for one more day.
College Basketball Odds: Georgia Tech 68, Pittsburgh 65
