College Basketball Odds - Maryland Terrapins at Indiana Hoosiers Live Betting Preview

2016-Maryland-at-Indiana-(CBS)-Betting-Lines

It's a sin that we haven't had a chance to see the Maryland Terrapins play against the Indiana Hoosiers yet this season. We've been made to wait for it, but arguably the two best teams in the Big Ten will have their day to end the college basketball regular season against one another on Sunday afternoon in Bloomington.

You can bet on college basketball odds at BookMaker.eu every day of the season.

SCHEDULING

Maryland is going to be put at a bit of a disadvantage in this game because of the way the schedule has played out in the Big Ten. The Terrapins don't have a particularly tough game on Thursday against Illinois, but they'd probably much rather have a couple extra days off to get ready for this one.

Indiana has that luxury. The Hoosiers last played on Tuesday at Iowa, and though that was the harder of the two games by a tremendous margin, having the extra two days in relation to Maryland.

Live bettors though, should also note that Indiana already has the regular season Big Ten title all locked up. It's entirely possible that the Terps could get all the way to the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament next week with a couple wins to end the regular season.

KEY MATCHUP

For our money, this game is all about the point guards. Yogi Ferrell and Melo Trimble are going to be the key figures on Sunday.

Ferrell has really picked up the scoring load of late since James Blackmon Jr. went out for the season injured. He's got 47 points combined in his last two games against Iowa and Illinois, moving him up to 17.1 points per game. Sure, he isn't dishing the ball out quite as much as he used to, but that's because his running mate in the backcourt isn't there with him.

IU is also handicapped due to the fact that the man replacing Blackmon, Robert Johnson is also out with an ankle injury. Johnson is hoping to be back by the weekend, but more likely than not, he's not getting back on the floor until the Big Ten Tournament.

Trimble meanwhile, has had some real ups and downs this year. He's turned the ball over at least five times in three of his last four games, and he hasn't made it past 10 points in three of his last five. For a man who has this much potential, scoring anything less than 20 in a game like this won't cut it. The Terps really need their superstar to step up and be a superstar in a game the likes of which they'll have to play and win time and time again over the course of the next few weeks. Live bettors will need him, too.

KEY STATS & TRENDS

Indiana's record here at home is remarkable. Assembly Hall has been a house of horrors for the opposition, and live bettors can't forget about that. The Hoosiers are 11-5 ATS in their 16 home games this year, and they've yet to be beaten outright.

Maryland has suddenly really started struggling on the road. The team has failed to cover its last three away from College Park, including suffering an unsightly loss to Minnesota which will surely hurt when it comes to its seeding next week for the dance.

Live bettors should be ready to play the over if the Terrapins are struggling defensively. They've pushed their last two over the number, though it should be noted that their previous eight did all stay under the total.
