Kansas is perennially one of the top teams in the country and this year is no exception. The Jayhawks should be sizable home favorites and may need to cover a significant spread in this one. The Cornhuskers have been average this season and will be hard-pressed to pull this upset.

Kansas is 8-1 straight up and 6-3 against the spread this season. The Jayhawks will be favored in the vast majority of their games this season and have done a nice job covering despite often giving points.
Nebraska is 5-4 straight up and 4-2 against the spread. The Cornhuskers have covered in their lone true road game with a spread and will aim to do so again.
Player to Watch
Frank Mason III -- The best player on the court will be the senior guard for Kansas. Mason III is averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game on the season.
He is only 5-foot-11 so Mason isn’t highly-rated when it comes to NBA viability, but he has proven to be an outstanding college guard.
Mason had a great game last time out, scoring 30 points while adding five rebounds, five assists and three steals in a rout of UMKC. He is shooting 58.9 percent from the field and 55.3 percent from three-point range, and while those numbers aren’t expected to remain that high throughout the entire year, Mason’s hot shooting abilities will be tough for Nebraska to handle.
Key Stat
Zero. That’s the number of wins over high-major opponents Nebraska has picked up this year. While the Huskers are 5-0 against smaller-conference foes, that have yet to knock off a similar opponent.
Nebraska started the season with four consecutive wins before falling to ranked opponent the UCLA Bruins. The Huskers played high-majors the next two times out but again couldn’t pick up a victory.
Nebraska was defeated by Virginia Tech by a score of 66-53 and then fell to Clemson 60-58. The Cornhuskers broke that three-game losing streak by knocking off North Dakota but fell to Creighton last time out.

Nebraska may be in a high-major conference but it doesn’t have nearly the same talent as Kansas. After a season-opening loss to Indiana, the Jayhawks have been really good to move back to near the top of the ranking.
Mason leads the way, but he’s not the only talented play on Kansas. Josh Jackson is averaging 14.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game while Devonte’ Graham is contributing 13.7 points and 5.1 assists.
Nebraska needs its top players to have good games in order to have a chance. The Huskers are led by Tai Webster, who averages 16.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists on the season.
Glynn Watson Jr. adds 13.8 points and 2.4 steals per game, while Ed Morrow contributes 11.1 points and 7.5 rebounds. The Huskers have some decent players, but not nearly enough talent to hang with Kansas, especially on the road.
The Jayhawks have proven themselves early on and should cruise to the win in this matchup. Check on the spread, as it could be high which could allow Nebraska to cover it.
