College Basketball Odds - No. 10 Duke Blue Devils at Miami Hurricanes Game Preview

2017-NCAAB-Duke-at-Miami-(CBS)-Betting-Lines

The Miami Hurricanes are coming into a matchup against the No. 10 Duke Blue Devils on a high note after upsetting No. 18 West Virginia on the road Monday. The Hurricanes, who are 2-4 against ranked teams this season, will try to make it two upsets in a row as they host the Blue Devils on Saturday.

Duke is fresh off a 78-75 loss on Wednesday to unranked Syracuse after losing on a buzzer-beater three-pointer. The team will be eager to get back in the winning column this weekend, especially with No. 19 Florida State and No. 8 North Carolina waiting in the wings as the Blue Devils’ last two regular season opponents.

This war on the floor will go down Saturday, February 25, 2016, at 4 p.m. ET at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida. The game will be televised live on CBS.

We'll have NCAA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the college basketball Saturday schedule.

Duke is 22-6 straight up and 11-16 against the spread. The Blue Devils have played in seven road games on the season and have only covered in two of them. Duke should be the favorite in this one and is 10-14 against the spread in such situations on the year.

Miami is 19-8 straight up and only 10-16 against the spread itself. The Hurricanes are just 4-10 against the spread in home games on the year, so something will have to give in this one. Miami has covered in four of six attempts as the underdog this year, a significantly better rate than as the favorite.

Last Meeting

Duke got the better of Miami the first time these two teams met back on January 21st, winning 70-58 at home. The Blue Devils trailed by eleven points at halftime, but turned it on in the second half, outscoring the Hurricanes 45-22 to secure the win.

Matt Jones hit three three-pointers and had 13 points off the bench for Duke in that critical second half and freshman Jayson Tatum had a team-high 14 points. Davon Reed led the effort for Miami, finishing with 19 points for the Hurricanes while Bruce Brown and Ja’Quan Newton combined for another 28 points.

Duke trailed by as many as 12 in the second half, marking the largest deficit of the season where the team went on to win. Miami committed 18 turnovers in the loss and also struggled at the free-throw line, shooting just 46.7 percent.

Player to Watch

Luke Kennard -- The sophomore guard remains the go-to guy on offense for the Duke this season. He comes into this matchup off back-to-back 23-point games for the Blue Devils, finishing as the leading scorer in the win against Wake Forest and the loss to Syracuse.

Kennard is averaging 20.1 points per game this season. He scored a season-high 35 points against Maine back in December and had two more 34-point games after that.

In the first matchup against Miami, Kennard finished with 11 points. There’s no question, however, he has the ability be a game-changer for Duke.

Duke has turned it on of late, the recent loss to Syracuse notwithstanding. The Blue Devils are hoping to be a contender in March Madness, but they have a tough stretch the rest of the way before they get there.

While Miami isn’t a great team, this is a tough matchup. The Hurricanes are a home and have shown the ability to play with some strong opponents. An upset win by Miami may be a bit too ambitious, but keep a close eye on the spread.

Take Duke for the win, but the Hurricanes could very well cover if they are given enough points in this matchup.

College Basketball Odds: Duke 83, Miami 78
