2017-NCAAB-Iowa-State-at-West-Virginia-(ESPN2)-Betting-Odds

The West Virginia Mountaineers’ last two big matchups didn’t go as planned. After beating both Kansas and Baylor earlier this season, the team lost both rematches, falling in overtime to the Jayhawks on February 14 and then succumbing to a late Bears run on Monday and losing 71-62.

No. 10 West Virginia will no doubt be looking to turn things around Friday in its last regular season matchup of the year against the No. 24 Iowa State Cyclones, another team the Mountaineers have already notched a win against this season.

The Cyclones will be trying for their seventh straight win in this one. Iowa State won both its recent matchups against Baylor and Kansas and comes into this game riding high. The Cyclones were on the bubble for the Big Dance a few weeks ago but their stellar play of late has them in great position to secure a berth.

This war on the floor will go down Friday, March 3, 2017, at 7 p.m. ET at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, West Virginia. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.

We'll have NCAA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the college basketball Friday schedule.

Matchup to Watch

Monte Morris and Iowa State’s offense against the West Virginia defense. The Mountaineers’ ability to force turnovers and apply pressure is a proven strength of their game and the Cyclones must take care of the ball if they want to win this matchup.

In the last meeting, Iowa State turned the ball over 16 times. Because of the Mountaineers’ pressing defense, the Cyclones will need their offense to be nearly flawless and will have to shoot better than 40 percent to win this one.

West Virginia forced 18 turnovers against Baylor earlier this week, despite the loss, and caused 21 turnovers in the tight game against TCU on February 25th. The Mountaineers are holding opponents to 66.5 points per game this season.

Last Meeting

Behind a career night from Nathan Adrian, West Virginia defeated Iowa State 85-72 in the first matchup between these two teams on January 31st. Things stayed tight in the first half and for the early part of the second half too before the Mountaineers seized control with around nine minutes to go and never looked back.

Adrian finished with 23 points and eleven rebounds in the victory and Tarik Phillips added 15 points off the bench. Matt Thomas led the Cyclones effort with 19 points and seven rebounds.

West Virginia has gone 3-2 against ranked teams this season and split victories with Kansas and Baylor this season. The Mountaineers have won the last three meetings in a row against the Cyclones and will look to make it four straight, ending the regular season on a high note.

Iowa State has enough talent to win this one, but must solve West Virginia’s pressure. That’s where playing them once before comes in handy.

The Cyclones will learn from that matchup and keep their momentum up by capturing this victory at home to even the season series and continue their quest to get as high of a seed as possible in March Madness.

College Basketball Odds: Iowa State 77, West Virginia 74
