Kansas is coming off a key win over Kentucky last time out and should be favored as it is higher ranked and the home team. Even so, Baylor has proven its mettle against plenty of solid teams this season and will give the Jayhawks a tough game.

Kansas is 19-2 straight up and 7-12 against the spread. The Jayhawks have played in eight games at home this season but have only covered in six of them. Kansas has been the favorite in the majority of its games this season but hasn’t fared too well, covering only five times in 16 games.

Player to Watch
Frank Mason III – The Kansas senior guard put up 21 points in the Jayhawks’ 79-73 win over No. 4 Kentucky last week and will hope to repeat that kind of performance this week against Baylor. Mason leads the team in points per game, averaging 19.9 in addition to 5.1 assists per game.
Mason has played very well against ranked opponents so far this season. In the team’s season opener against No. 11 Indiana, he put up 30 points and also scored 21 against No. 1 Duke on January 15th where he hit the game-winning jumper with seconds left.
Mason has been playing very well lately as well. He averaged 20 points per game in the month of January included putting up 28 points against Oklahoma on January 10th.

Baylor’s only loss this season was to No. 10 West Virginia on January 10th. The Mountaineers are the only team to score more than 75 points against the Bears, finishing with 89 in the victory.
Against other ranked opponents this season, Baylor’s defense has stood up to the test. Most recently, the Bears defeated No. 25 Kansas State 77-68.

The Bears are a legitimate foe, but Kansas will likely be favored because it has long been one of the country’s top programs. The Jayhawks lost to Indiana in their opener and recently to West Virginia, but bounced back last time out with a comeback win over Kentucky.
This is the third straight tough game for the Jayhawks, but getting it at home is a big deal. While Baylor has proven itself against ranked opponents, the choice here is for the Jayhawks to pull out a close one.
