College Basketball Odds - Oregon at Stanford Game Preview

It’s been a tough season for the Oregon Ducks. Although this team was supposed to take a step back after last year’s Final Four appearance, Dana Altman didn’t think his team would struggle this much.

The good news is that Oregon has looked competitive with its new lineup, and the Ducks have gotten some nice wins. They pulled off a very impressive road win against Arizona State a few weeks ago and have won two in a row in conference play.

Oregon knows if it wants to make the NCAA Tournament, it must win games like the one this weekend. The Ducks will be heading south to take on the 11-11 Stanford Cardinal.

This war on the floor will go down Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 5 p.m. ET at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, California. The game will be televised live on FOX. We'll have NCAA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the college basketball Saturday schedule.

Stanford is 5-4 in conference and has improved significantly over the past few weeks. The Cardinal have been one of the top teams to bet on since the calendar turned to 2018, covering seven straight before losing to UCLA last weekend. Even more impressive was that four of those seven covers were outright wins in games where Stanford was an underdog. That made bettors a good amount of money.

Under has been a solid play in Stanford games this season. This is a team that has always been known for its defense, so it’s not much of a surprise to see the under perform well in Cardinal games. The under is 13-7-2 on the season and 8-5-1 in Stanford home games.

Oregon has not been a good team to back this year. The Ducks are just 9-11 ATS, but they have performed better on the road. They are 3-1 ATS on the road with two of those wins coming as outright victories despite being an underdog.

Like with Stanford, under has been a solid bet in Ducks games lately. It has cashed in six of the last eight.

Matchup to Watch

Stanford has relied on two big men in particular to carry the load on the glass this season. Reid Travis and Michael Humphrey have both been solid players down low in the block. Travis has been the top player on the team, averaging 19.4 PPG and 7.6 RPG, while hitting over 52 percent of his field goals. Meanwhile, Humphrey is the team’s leading rebounder and a big man that can shoot from range. He is sinking over 40 percent of his threes on the year.

Oregon’s best big men from last season are gone, so the Ducks have had to rely on transfer MiKyle McIntosh and freshman Troy Brown to get the job done. However, neither player has much size. They are the two leading rebounders on the team, but both players are undersized at 6’7. That poses a problem for Oregon in this one.

Player to Watch

Freshman Daejon Davis has had some growing pains this season. Stanford’s primary point guard has been a turnover machine. He is averaging 4.3 turnovers a game, one of the highest totals in the country. That nearly wipes out the 4.6 assists per game he is averaging.

These are growing pains for sure, but you can also see his talent. He shined against UCLA in Stanford’s last game, finishing with 23 points and 10 assists while limiting the turnovers that had plagued him in previous games.

Provided Davis plays well, look for Stanford to get a nice cover at home in this one. The Cardinal have been buoyed with Dorian Pickens back in the lineup, and they have the big men to exploit the Ducks in the paint.
