Villanova is 16-1 straight up and 11-6 against the spread. The Wildcats have played eight games at home and have covered in six of them. Being the favorite is a familiar feeling as they have never been an underdog in a game this year and won’t be again.
Seton Hall is 12-3 straight up and 6-8 against the spread. The Pirates had a solid non-conference season and could be in line to make the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, but will need to pick up some wins moving forward.
Seton Hall has played a pair of true road games and covered one of them. The Pirates are 2-2 against the spread as the underdog this season.
Player to Watch
Khadeen Carrington – For Seton Hall to have a shot at an upset, the team’s leading scorer will need to show up. Carrington is averaging 18.7 points per game but could be hard-pressed to hit that number against an athletic Villanova defense.
The junior guard has been key in Seton Hall’s big games so far this season. He put up 27 points in the Pirates’ loss to No. 10 Creighton on December 28th and also scored 21 in the team’s win over No. 16 South Carolina on December 12th.
Carrington has been a little quieter as of late, however, averaging 11 points over the last two matchups. He will be expected to answer the call in the big showdown Monday.

62.9. That’s how many points per game Villanova is holding opposing offenses to this season. In a recent matchup against No. 15 Xavier on January 10th, Villanova held the Musketeers to just 54 points, more than 20 points below the team’s season average.
Seton Hall comes into this matchup averaging 77.1 points per game. The Pirates put up 87 points in their win over DePaul over January 7th, but certainly face a tall order in this matchup.
In all, Villanova has held eight opponents to 60 points or below this season. Marquette scored 81 points against the Wildcats on January 7th, the most of any team this year, but Villanova still managed a victory.

Villanova suffered a conference loss to Butler but everyone else in the Big East has also lost at least one game. Creighton and Butler seem like the biggest contenders, so the Wildcats need to keep racking up victories.
Villanova seems like a favorite to get a No. 1 seed heading into March Madness if it can play well down the stretch. There is no reason to think that won’t happen in this one. This is one of the most well-rounded teams in the country, led by star Josh Hart.
Expect him to have a big game as Villanova shouldn’t have much trouble picking up this victory. The only drama will center around which team is able to cover the spread as Seton Hall will be a sizable road underdog.
