The South Dakota State Jackrabbits slayed the best team in the Summit League last time out to pull within one game of making the NCAA Tournament. To get there, they will have to knock off the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks.
These teams have similar records and split the season series so everything is pointing to a competitive matchup. Nebraska-Omaha might be the slightest of favorites but South Dakota State could also grab that title, and the Jackrabbits will certainly have plenty of confidence after a buzzer-beating upset of South Dakota last time out.
Both teams have dreams of making March Madness but only one will be able to get there. There is everything on the line and this one has the makings of a classic.

Omaha dropped 101 points on South Dakota State in the first meeting between these Summit League foes on January 7th, winning on the road by eight points in that game. Senior Marcus Tyus put up 34 points in the victory, finishing with eight three-pointers.
It was a different story in the rematch a couple weeks later, however, as the Jackrabbits came out much stronger in the first half and held on for an 88-84 victory at Baxter Arena. The latest matchup remained tight until the final minute, but South Dakota State hit some clutch baskets down the stretch to come away with the win.
Player to Watch
Mike Daum -- The last time these two teams met, the South Dakota State sophomore led the offense with 33 points. He had 28 points and 10 rebounds the first time his team faced the Mavericks this year.
He is averaging 25.2 points and eight rebounds this season for the Jackrabbits and has been playing extremely well as of late. Daum scored a career-high 51 points in South Dakota State’s 97-87 win over Fort Wayne on February 18th.
He followed up that performance with back-to-back 30-plus point games against Denver University. Daum has proven himself a difference-maker this season and will key in this matchup once again.

Nebraska-Omaha is the higher seed but this seems like a virtual toss-up, and the location of the game could be enough to push South Dakota State over the edge. If the Jackrabbits get a fiery fanbase to make the trip, it will be a help.
While these two teams were not forecasted to face off in the Summit League finals, here they are with a berth to the Big Dance on the line. This one is going to be a great back-and-forth showdown that could definitely go either way.
South Dakota State has the best player on the court in Daum, and he should be counted on to come up huge. Take the Jackrabbits to wrap up their magical run to the conference tournament championship game with one more victory for an NCAA Tournament berth.
