College Basketball Odds - Stanford Cardinal at Arizona Wildcats Live Betting Preview

2016-Stanford-at-Arizona-(CBS)-Bet-Online

The Arizona Wildcats have fallen upon some tough times in recent weeks, and as a result, they are out of the discussion for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Pac-12 Tournament. Still, they won't want to fall flat once again in the regular season finale against the Stanford Cardinal, or there will be a chance they could drop out of the top four seeds next week as well.

SCHEDULING

Both of these clubs are plenty deep enough and have been through enough of the Pac-12 struggles this season to be ready for the short turnaround they're set to face. Arizona and Stanford both have to play on Thursday night then get ready for a game on Saturday afternoon all while keeping an eye on the Pac-12 Tournament starting next Wednesday. In fact, there's a really good chance these two teams could end up facing each other again as early as next Thursday in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Still, motivation has to be a factor here as well for live betting. Arizona's chances of a top seed are all but over with at this point after losing to both Utah and Colorado in successive games, but Stanford still likely will have a lot to play for. If the Cardinal can overcome Arizona State on Thursday, they could possibly get to the right side of the bubble on Saturday with an upset here in Tucson.

KEY MATCHUP

In the first meeting of the year of these two teams, Stanford really just got worn down. The game was close for 20 minutes, but in the second half, the big boys for the Wildcats took over. Kaleb Tarczewski and Ryan Anderson combined to shoot 9-of-10 from the field and 11-of-14 from the foul line, and both were just short of double-doubles when the night was said and done with.

If the Wildcats are able to impose their will and get into the paint for easy buckets for long stretches of this game, the same could happen in this one.

We don't have a doubt that Stanford has enough talent to at least hang around if it plays desperate basketball. That said, outside of Rosco Allen (who only went 1-for-12 from the floor against Arizona the first time around), there isn't a consistent big man on this team. Sure, Allen has been hot of late and could force one of the Arizona big boys out of the paint by shooting some threes, but if shots aren't falling, there could be hassles on the other end of the floor in a hurry.

Arizona's bigs run the court like few others in the nation, and for as good of a defensive player in the post as Grant Verhoeven is, he and Allen aren't running the court with Tarczewski and Anderson. That's why the key to live betting is very likely Stanford hitting some outside shots and taking away the ability for the Wildcats to get out and get easy buckets in transition.

KEY STATS & TRENDS

The home/away splits for these teams are both incredibly notable. Stanford is 7-7-1 ATS this season at home and 2-6 ATS on the road. Its only two victories away from Palo Alto in the Pac-12 campaign came against Oregon State before it really turned into a force and lowly Washington State.

Arizona might only be 9-7 ATS at home, but it's clear that its offense is significantly better here at the McKale Center than on the road. The Wildcats average over 84 points per game at home, and that's why over backers are 13-3 in their games this year in Tucson, stats which shouldn't be lost on live bettors. Stanford might be on the verge of the bubble, but it isn't one of the better-than-average teams in the Pac-12.
