College Basketball Odds - Vanderbilt at Kentucky Game Preview

2018-NCAAB-Vanderbilt-at-Kentucky-preview-Betting-Online

It’s been an awful year for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Bryce Drew’s second year in Nashville has not gone as planned. It would take a miracle for this team to make the NCAA Tournament at this point, with the ‘Dores sitting at 8-13 overall. They have yet to win a home game this season and have a tall task ahead of them on Tuesday night.

The Kentucky Wildcats have not had their best season, but this team continues to show a ton of heart. Although they may not win the SEC East, a win over West Virginia shows just how dangerous this team can be. They will look to put another notch in their belt with a win over Vandy.

This war on the floor will go down Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 9 p.m. ET at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. The game will be televised live on ESPN. We'll have NCAA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the college basketball Tuesday schedule.

Vanderbilt has been one of the worst teams you can bet on all season long. The Commodores are 4-14 ATS, with awful SU losses to teams like Belmont and Middle Tennessee State. Yet they have looked much better over their last three games, covering all three and picking up impressive wins against TCU and LSU.

The Commodores have seen a good number of their non-home games go under the total. The under is 6-2 in games away from home for Vanderbilt.

Kentucky has not had the best season SU or ATS. The Wildcats were able to knock off West Virginia on the road as a double-digit underdog, and that helped people who have been backing them all year immensely. However, they are still under .500 ATS.

Over has been a marginally better play than under in Kentucky home games this season with a 7-5 mark.

Last Meeting

Vanderbilt was the one conference opponent that did not give Kentucky any trouble this season. The Commodores were just outclassed the first time these teams met.

Outside of Jeff Roberson, Vandy just couldn’t score. Roberson was 6-12 on the day and 6-6 from the line to finish the day with 20 points. Unfortunately, his teammates combined to go 15-43 from the field and 13-21 from the line. It’s not easy to win with shooting numbers like that.

Additionally, Kentucky was able to do what it wanted on the offensive end. The Wildcats shot over 50 percent from the floor and got to the line 37 times.

Key Stats

It’s hard to imagine Vandy flipping the script now that the game is on the road. The Commodores have just not been that good on the offensive end this season. They are shooting 42.7 percent from the floor, and their best shooter is Roberson at 48.8 percent. This team has not been able to develop a strong interior game and it shows.

The rebounding has not been there either for Vandy. It was able to get a good number of second-chance points off of Kentucky a few weeks ago because of it’s work on the offensive glass, but that has not been the norm. The Commodores are averaging just 35 rebounds per game on the year.

Kentucky has to be riding high after the big win this weekend, and John Calipari must be hoping that this is the spark his team needed. There is no questioning the talent on this roster, but the results have been spotty.

Look for this to be the start of Kentucky’s turnaround. The Wildcats are a much better team than the Commodores, and they have the athleticism to completely dominate this one. It won’t take much to break Vandy’s spirit, and Kentucky will pounce early en route to an easy win.
