College Basketball Odds - Villanova Wildcats vs. North Carolina Tar Heels Live Betting Preview

2016-National-Championsship-(Live)-Betting-Odds

The Final Four was expected to be a heck of a lot more competitive than it turned out to be, but the North Carolina Tar Heels and Villanova Wildcats won't mind the lack of drama. Live bettors will probably find the sledding a little tougher in Monday's National Championship Game.

HOW THEY GOT HERE

North Carolina has covered its last four spreads, and it has won each game in the tourney by at least 14 points. It's tough to forecast a situation in which a team could run all the way to the title game with this much success, but live bettors know that when the Tar Heels have gotten going, they've been virtually impossible to slow down. No team goes on a 9-0 run faster in America than North Carolina.

Villanova picked a great time for its most impressive showing of the year. The 95-51 destruction of Oklahoma was the biggest blowout in the history of the Final Four, and it was a testament to just how scary this team is. The Wildcats covered every number thrown their way in live betting, something that virtually no one has been able to do this year in the dance.

Prior to the win over OU, Nova took out Kansas, Miami, Iowa and UNC Asheville, and all five games were covered, many of which with extreme ease.

KEY MATCHUP

For our money, this game is all about the two point guards. Marcus Paige has stayed relatively quiet in the NCAA Tournament, but he's hitting big shots, and when teams are forced to respect his outside game, it opens up things for the big boys on the low block.

That said, Paige hasn't run across a big time guard like Ryan Arcidiacono in this tournament, and he's going to be asked to play well on both sides of the court.

Arcidiacono is playing in his final collegiate game in this one, and live bettors should look out for his impact that he's making outside of the stat sheet. Oh sure, Arcidiacono has scored at least 13 points in all five tourney games, but he's a ridiculous pain of a defender, and though he hasn't gotten a ton of assists, he's gotten a lot of hockey-style assists by making the pass that led to the pass that led to the bucket.

Live bettors who have followed this Villanova team closely in March know how important Arcidiacono is, and when he's playing at his best, the Wildcats are every bit as tough to beat as UNC is.

KEY STATS & TRENDS

No team has shot the ball better through five games of the NCAA Tournament than has Villanova. The Wildcats, who were the No. 2 team in points per possession in the nation coming into the tourney and are now No. 1, are shooting 58 percent from the field. That was capped off by shooting a whopping 71 percent against Oklahoma. Obviously, if the Wildcats shoot the ball anywhere near that well in this game, their live bettors are going to be happy.

Clearly though, UNC is going to have a big edge on the glass. The Wildcats did allow Oklahoma to get a ton of offensive rebounds on Saturday night, and the Heels have been masters of the second-chance in this dance. The Tar Heels had 16 offensive rebounds against Syracuse, and that's why they had 50 points in the paint. Considering the fact that the Sooners were reduced to mere jump shooters against Villanova, whichever team wins that battle of wills on the UNC offensive end will likely find success in live betting.
