The Virginia Tech Hokies got a big boost to their NCAA men’s tournament hopes last time out with an upset of Virginia. They hope to continue to strengthen their argument next time out in a matchup against the Pittsburgh Panthers.
The Hokies have been the more impressive team this season but Pitt does get to play this game at home. The Panthers have won two straight after a rough eight-game losing streak and hope to keep on the winning track in this one.
This could be a competitive matchup and means a lot to Virginia Tech.

Seth Allen had a team-high 20 points off the bench and hit the game-winning shot with 3.2 seconds to go in the win. The victory marked the Hokies’ second win over a ranked opponent this season and should give the players a lot of confidence as they travel to Pittsburgh this week.
Virginia Tech’s offense is averaging 79.2 points per game this season behind leading scorer Zach LeDay, Allen and Ahmed Hill. Pittsburgh also has a win over Virginia this season, winning 88-76 in overtime on January 4th.

Michael Young -- The Pitt forward is averaging 20.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. Young had 21 points and nine rebounds in the Panthers’ recent win over Syracuse and tied his season-high with 30 points in the game before that against Boston College on February 8th.
The senior has scored five double-doubles this season with his strongest performance coming in the season opener against Eastern Michigan when he finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds. He has been playing particularly well lately, averaging 25 points over the last three matchups.
Young has scored 30 points in three games this season and had five additional games where he put up 25 points or more. The Panthers will rely on their strongest player in Tuesday’s tough matchup against Virginia Tech.
