College Basketball Odds - Washington vs. Kansas Game Preview

The Kansas Jayhawks have been awesome this year. Bill Self might have the best team he has had in quite some time and that’s saying something considering the Jayhawks always seem to be at least a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They are undefeated through seven games and already have two nice wins over name brand opponents and have not been tested in their other games. On Wednesday, they will get another chance to add a nice win to their resume when they face the Washington Huskies.

This war on the floor will go down Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 9 p.m. ET at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The game will be televised live on ESPN2. We'll have NCAA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the college basketball Wednesday schedule.

Washington finally parted ways with long-time coach Lorenzo Romar after last season’s unmitigated disaster. Despite having superstar Markelle Fultz, the Huskies went just 9-22, and that was a strong indication that Romar needed to go.

The Huskies hired Mike Hopkins to replace him. It was an interesting hire as Hopkins had spent the last three decades either playing with or coaching Syracuse and he has not been on the West Coast since he was a high schooler back in 1987.

This season, Washington is off to a 6-2 start, but the wins have not come against anyone of note. The Huskies did upset Belmont in their season opener, but lost to Providence and got hammered by Virginia Tech in non-conference play. They have failed to cover four in a row after being on the right side of the betting line in their first three games.

As for Kansas, the Jayhawks have been one of the top teams to bet on in this country. Large spreads have been of no concern to them and they are 5-0 ATS when they are favored by double digits. Their one ATS loss this season was by just a half-point, when they only beat Kentucky by four points as a 4.5-point favorite.

Player to Watch

Noah Dickerson has been the best player on the court for the Huskies this season. The problem has been he hasn’t been on the court as much as he should be because he is constantly dealing with foul trouble.

Dickerson is second on the team in points and leads the team in rebounding. He has been incredibly efficient from the floor, especially against the smaller schools. They haven’t had someone with his size and athleticism to match up against him and he has punished them for it.

However, he did not perform so well against either Belmont or Virginia Tech. He hit a few shots, but wasn’t a presence on the glass and didn’t get the chance to be on the floor much because he got into foul trouble. Dickerson must stay out of foul trouble against the Jayhawks.

Matchup to Watch

Few teams have the ability to knock down threes like Kansas does. Four of the Jayhawks’ starters are shooting 40 percent or better from downtown with Udoka Azubuike being the lone exception because he hasn’t taken a shot from that distance this year.

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk has been the best shooter from distance, knocking down 54.3 percent of his threes, while Devonte’ Graham has been very efficient as well. This team’s ability to hit the trey stretches defenses and allows their bigs in the paint to have a lot of success.

Kansas should be a double-digit favorite in this game and I don’t see them having a hard time getting the cover. The Jayhawks have been a force all season long and should get Dickerson in foul trouble early. That will help them dominate the glass as he is Washington’s one low post threat.

College Basketball Odds: Kansas 89, Washington 71
