The North Dakota Fighting Hawks excelled down the stretch to win the Big Sky regular season title, and have performed well in the conference tournament. It has them one victory away from March Madness, but they will have to knock off formidable foe the Weber State Wildcats in the championship game.
This looks to be an excellent matchup, with North Dakota the favorite but this game capable of going either way. Making it to the NCAA Tournament will be a dream come true for whichever squad gets there, and they can’t let the moment consume them.
The team that stays more calm should have the advantage in this matchup. North Dakota was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament last season but have been solid all year long. Weber State won the Big Sky tournament a season ago to advance to March Madness, and hopes to use that experience to its advantage.

Quinton Hooker -- North Dakota’s senior guard is the most dynamic player on the court. He is averaging 19.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per contest. He has averaged in double figures for the past three years and 19 points or more in both of his years as an upperclassmen, so the Fighting Hawks know who to go to when the game is close in the final stages.
He is shooting 47 percent from the field and 44.6 percent from three-point range. Hooker had 13 points, five assists and four rebounds in the conference semifinal win over Idaho. He had 29 points and six steals in a recent win over Portland State, affecting the game on both sides of the court.
Previous Meetings
Weber State and North Dakota faced off in two regular season matchups and the Fighting Hawks won them both. They picked up the first victory by a score of 83-77 at home. Weber State was undefeated in conference previously but the Fighting Hawks used a big second half to rally for the win.
In the second matchup, North Dakota again trailed at the half before rallying for a 77-68 win. Hooker had 22 points in that one to lead the way for the Fighting Hawks.
