After traveling to Lubbock to battle Texas Tech over the weekend, the No. 3 ranked Kansas Jayhawks will return home to the comforts of the Phog where they’ll partake in a grudge match against the West Virginia Mountaineers. Huggy Bear’s Mounty’s once again got the best of Bill Self’s kids only 20 days ago in Morgantown where WVU turned on the afterburners in the second half to hand the Jayhawks their fourth straight defeat in the Coliseum.
This war on the floor will go down Monday, February 13, 2017, at 9 p.m. ET at the Allen Fieldhouse. The game will be televised live on ESPN. We'll have NCAA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on Monday’s college basketball schedule.

WVU has suffered a number of head scratching defeats in Big 12 play. The 77-76 overtime loss at Texas Tech comes to mind immediately, but falling at home to both Oklahoma schools as decided favorites takes the cake. Thankfully, Esa Ahmad and his mates were able to attain a bit of revenge last time out to get back in the win column. West Virginia is currently in third place within the Big 12 and stands 5-2 straight up and 4-3 against the spread on the true road. It’s been installed a road underdog only once this season and beat Virginia outright in that game as 8 point pups.
Kansas possesses an identical 21-3 record as Baylor heading into the weekend’s action. Unlike the Bears who’ve been a decent bet, the Jayhawks have flat out killed their supporter’s bank rolls with Frank Mason and company a sickening 7-14-1 against the spread for the season. Sportsbooks have been getting fat off people betting KU regardless of venue, but even more so at home where they’ve cashed on just two occasions through 10 tries.
Key Stat
16.0 – That number you see to the left is the amount of turnovers Kansas has committed over its last three games. Up nearly three per game from its seasonal average of 13.2. Ball security will be of utmost importance in this skirmish with no team in the country better at forcing turnovers than that of the Mountaineers. Every player in the starting five is well versed at forcing miscues with Jevon Carter’s 70 total steals the leader of the pack. KU actually did a solid job dealing with the pressure only turning it over 13 times, but most occurred in the second half when the game got away from it.
Matchup to Watch
Though it has guys like Landen Lucas and Carlton Bragg Jr. that can get some things done close to the rim, Kansas is heavily reliant upon converting at a high clip from beyond the arc to win games. It knocked down 13 of its 29 attempts in the loss at Morgantown, and West Virginia still hasn’t improved its 3-point defense since. It just allowed the Sooners and Cowboys to combine for a 14-of-27 showing from long range over its last two games, and ranks No. 199 overall in defending from downtown. Mason, Devonte’ Graham, Svi Mykhailiuk and Josh Jackson combined for 12 makes in the first go round, so they’ll no doubt be letting it fly in this one as well.

Kansas doesn’t hit its free throws at a high clip and turns the ball over at an alarming rate. It also marches out one of the more porous defenses of the Bill Self era. Those three factors equate to the Jayhawks amounting to one of the worst bets this season.
Many of the players currently on WVU’s roster have already experienced playing in the Phog. After beating KU on its home floor last season, it found itself 7-point dogs in its trip to Lawrence. Kansas went on to win by 10 and cover the game due in large part to shoddy shooting and allowing Lucas to blow up for a career-high 16 rebounds. I think they’ll be better prepared for their return trip and will put a scare in front of the Phog faithful who last saw their team fall in overtime to a similar Iowa State club.
College Basketball Odds: Kansas 81, West Virginia 78
