NCAA ATS Picks - ACC Tournament Preview And Prediction

ACC-Tournament-Preview-and-Predictions

The ACC proved to be one of the deepest conferences in the country in 2017-18, and its postseason tournament should be a hard-fought battle between plenty of elite programs. The Virginia Cavaliers will enter with the top seed after rolling through the conference like a hot knife through butter.

However, in order to win the conference tournament they will need to knock off some formidable foes once again. The Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels are some of the main contenders for Virginia’s crown, as this tournament should be intriguing from start to finish.

There are a few teams that are on the NCAA Tournament bubble and would be well-served to pick up a victory or two to boost their chances.

Odds Analysis

Even though Virginia is the top seed, it’s possible Duke could be the favorite in this one. The teams will likely meet up in the semifinals and the winner will be the team to beat in the ACC championship game.

North Carolina may not be a top-5 seed, but it gets a favorable draw by avoiding Duke or Virginia until the championship game. The Tar Heels could be a good pick considering its route to the finals is easier than some others.

Bubble Watch

Louisville, Notre Dame and possibly Syracuse are on the bubble of making March Madness, and this will be their last chance to make a positive impression on the selection committee. The Cardinals get a first-round bye and then match up against Florida State in the second round. A victory would be a huge boost for their shot at the tournament.

Notre Dame and Syracuse are currently projected to be on the outside looking in for March Madness, and could use a pair of wins or more to sway the committee. The Fighting Irish and Orange are the higher seeds in the first round but would really benefit by pulling off an upset in the second round and beyond.

Virginia is a tough team that has a bunch of quality wins in conference this season. However, a road that could include Duke and North Carolina to win the tournament is not very easy at all. Look for the semifinal game between the Blue Devils and Cavaliers to be a classic, with the Blue Devils coming away with a narrow win.

But Duke isn’t the choice to win the conference tournament. North Carolina shouldn’t have much trouble making it to finals and the Tar Heels are the choice to knock off the Blue Devils for the ACC tournament crown.

NCAA Odds: North Carolina 83, Duke 80 in the ACC Tournament Championship Game
