Betting on each game of the NCAA Tournament and filling out a bracket isn't where all of the wagering fun stops! Here at BookMaker.eu, we're counting down our Top 5 March Madness props that should make the tournament extra interesting to follow.
The NCAA Tournament will kick off on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 with the First Four and will continue through the National Championship Game at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale on Monday, April 3, 2017.
A No. 1 Seed to Win the NCAA Tournament ( +110 )
There are a couple really dangerous No. 2 seeds for sure in the dance. Kentucky and Duke could arguably run the table and meet in the National Championship Game, and Arizona could reasonably go off the board on Thursday as the favorite to win the West Region. That said, the likelihood that all four of Villanova, Gonzaga, Kansas and North Carolina get bounced before the Final Four is virtually nil, and the top seed, should it get there, will end up being the favorite to win it all at that point. That, of course, doesn't make this prop bet all that wise. What does make it wise is the fact that there shouldn't be much stopping these top teams from at least getting into the Sweet 16. Villanova has the toughest challenge against Wisconsin or Virginia Tech in the second round, but we don't suspect any surprises in Week 1 of the tourney.
Highest Single-Game Points Total for a Player in NCAA Tournament Over 32.5 ( -180 )
The boat may have been missed on this one in terms of the best available price, but we still have a lot of confidence that someone, somewhere along the way, is going to have a 33-point effort in one of these 67 NCAA Tournament games. Heck, Mike Daum of South Dakota State averages over 25 points per game, and even though his Jackrabbits are going against Gonzaga, the only way the No. 16 seed is even remotely going to hang in there against the Zags is if Daum goes for way more than 33 points.
Gonzaga To Make the Sweet 16 ( -615 )
It's chalky for sure, but the Zags are going to make it to the second weekend of the tournament with ease in all likelihood. South Dakota State, as we referenced before, is a one-man band, and it isn't providing any serious threat to the top seed in the West. The 8/9 matchup is probably the weakest of the bunch with Northwestern and Vanderbilt here, neither one is going to be a single-digit underdog against a team that won 32 games this season. Basically, you're betting that the Bulldogs will be better than -615 favorites against either the Commodores or Wildcats, and we have to say we'd be surprised if they weren't.
No #12 Seed to Win a Game in NCAA Tournament ( +300 )
Blasphemous! No. 12s always seem to win at least one game in the dance! That said, two years ago, the No. 5 seeds swept the board, and that could happen again. There are some dangerous spots for sure, but the matchups here are generally pretty darn good. Notre Dame should have a big physical advantage over Princeton, and Virginia's defense should slow down UNC Wilmington. Nevada can run with Iowa State, but the Cyclones are playing their best basketball of the season. The elephant in the room? Middle Tennessee won last year over Michigan State in a 15/2 upset, and now, the Blue Raiders have a real shot of being favored when they hit the court against No. 5 Minnesota this year. We'll take our chances that the Gophers can do the job in Round 1 at this big price of +300.
Total Big 12 Teams Advancing to Round of 32 Under 4 ( +210 )
It's a big price, but there's a potentially big payday here. Kansas seems to be a lock to get into the Round of 32, but the next best bet is Baylor as a No. 3 seed. West Virginia and Iowa State are both comfortable favorites as well. But who would the fifth team be to advance? Kansas State isn't even a lock to get into the Round of 64 yet with its game against Wake Forest to be played in Dayton, and Oklahoma State is playing against the hottest team in America right now in Michigan in the first round. We think it's more likely that both K-State and OK-State plus one other team fail to win in Round 1 than all four of the big favorites and one of the two longshots get that fifth win to beat us.
