Of all of the dramatic moments here in the playoffs, the most dramatic of them all might have been when Paul Pierce allegedly called "Game" when he drained the three that won Game 3 of this series for the Washington Wizards (52-37 SU, 39-47-3 ATS).
The Wiz will go looking for yet another upset on Monday night against the Eastern Conference top-seeded Atlanta Hawks (65-26 SU, 53-36-2 ATS).
ODDS ANALYSIS
Just as is the case in the Western Conference where the Warriors are -4.5 on the road against the Grizzlies, the Hawks are -4.5 on the road against the Wizards.
Once again, we haven't seen much deviating in the point spread in this series. Atlanta went from -9 in Game 2 down to -4 in Game 3, which essentially accounts for home court advantage.
The total has risen from 196.5 in Game 3 back to where it was in Game 2 at 199.
INJURY REPORT
The only real question here on the injury report is in regards to John Wall. We know if this was the regular season, Wall would be on the shelf with five fractures in his wrist and hand.
However, here in the playoffs, Wall's official designation is questionable, even though he didn't play in Game 3. We doubt he’ll give it a go in Game 4.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"They thought we couldn't win without John. We have no other choice. We can sit here and make excuses and say, 'John's not playing,' or we can go out there and prove people wrong. It's great. We have so much depth on this team. We would love to have John, but he's not with us now." – Wizards guard Bradley Beal on the state of Washington without John Wall in the fold
BETTING TRENDS
- The Hawks are 0-4-1 ATS in their last five road games versus teams with winning home records.
- The Wizards are 11-2-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall, including going 6-1 SU and ATS here in the playoffs to date.
- The OVER is 8-2 in Washington's last 10 games overall. The OVER is 2-1 in this series and was 3-1 for the Wiz against Toronto in the first round.
KEY STATS
9.7: The number of points per game the home team has led by at the end of the first quarter of the three games in this series. Clearly, momentum at home has been crucial in this series every step of the way, and that's definitely something to remember in live betting for Game 4 and beyond.
15: The number of shots which Otto Porter took in Game 3 for the Wizards. Porter has become a vital part of this rotation for Washington. He only attempted an average of 5.3 shots per game in the regular season, and he only put up 7.8 shots per game in the first six games of the playoffs. If Wall doesn't play, look for Porter to play a bigger role once again.
ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION
The difference between Atlanta and Golden State is that the Hawks definitely should have won Game 3.
For our money, Atlanta has proven that it is the better team in this series, and there's just only so far that Washington can go without Wall. Expect to see the Hawks wear down the Wizards in this game from the opening tip and not get off to a horrid start allowing them to win Game 4 with relative ease to tie the series up.
