The Houston Rockets (65-33 SU, 58-40 ATS) are on house money at this point. They have taken one game from the Golden State Warriors (78-18 SU, 53-42-1 ATS).
And no one expects to see them compete in Oakland whatsoever in Game 5 on Wednesday night.
HOWARD SUSPENSION LOOMS POSSIBLE
Dwight Howard was issued a Flagrant 1 foul in the third quarter on Monday night, but after going back and looking at the tape, the NBA could determine that he threw an elbow at the head of Andrew Bogut intentionally, a crime worthy of a Flagrant 2. If that foul is upgraded after the fact, D-12 will be forced to sit with an automatic one-game suspension for his fourth flagrant point in the playoffs.
When Howard was sitting in Game 3, Golden State was able to make its run at the Rockets from down 25 to back as close as seven before James Harden took matters into his own hands and put the game away.
HOT HOUSTON, THREE POINT SHOOTING IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP UP
The Rockets shot 60 percent from the field in the first half of Game 4, and most figured there was no way that could keep up. Matters weren't quite as good in the second half, but Houston still shot 56.6 percent for the game, including 53.1 percent from downtown.
Harden was unconscious on the night, hitting 7-of-11 from downtown as a part of an effort which saw Houston pour in 17 three-pointers.
Clearly, neither Harden nor the Rockets are going to be able to keep up with that pace in this game on the road.
Of course, Golden State isn't going to be able to do what it did in Game 4 either. Even with the quarter of action which Stephen Curry missed after taking a rough tumble to the floor, the Warriors made 20 threes.
The moral of the story here could be that live betting the under is the right call. There weren't many dry minutes on Monday night thanks to all of the threes, but public bettors are going to remember that and bet accordingly in Game 5. However, the 37 made threes between the two teams was the most in a single playoff game in NBA history by four, and there's just no way that keeps up.
IT'S ALL COMING UP KLAY
Here's the sign that you know this series will be said and done with. If the Splash Brothers are back to their usual games, Houston is said and done with.
Klay Thompson was 4-of-22 from three-point range in the first three games in this series. He went 6-of-13 from downtown in Game 4, and that could really spark him, not just in this game, but for the NBA Finals ahead as well.
Curry and Thompson didn't really have it going together at the same time until late in the third quarter when Golden State started to rally back from its big deficit, but by that point, it was just too late to erase the lead. The Warriors looked more interested in just getting back to Oakland for another game than fighting through that hole they dug themselves.
When the Splash Brothers are right together though, Golden State is the best team in the NBA by a country mile, and Houston is going to be reminded of that on Wednesday. Don't miss out in live betting at the first sign of these two men clicking together. They could easily combine for 60 points in this one.
