Fatigue hasn't caught Los Angeles Clippers yet but could play a role in Game 7 against San Antonio Spurs

Spurs-at-Clippers-Game-7.ar

On what might be the biggest day of sports of the entire year, the event which might be the showcase of them all is Game 7 between the San Antonio Spurs (58-30 SU, 44-42-2 ATS) and the Los Angeles Clippers (59-29 SU, 40-47-1).

FATIGUE FACTOR

We have talked about this every step of the way in this series, and we just can't avoid talking about it heading into Game 7.

Blake Griffin has played 247 minutes in this series. Chris Paul has played 238. J.J. Redick is at 232. DeAndre Jordan at 218. Where in the heck is Doc Rivers going to get more energy out of these superstars of his for this series?

To their credit, the Clips could have faded away after losing Game 5 here at the Staples Center. Instead, they went on the road, even when San Antonio gave them its best shot, and ultimately won by six in what for our money was one of the biggest upsets of the postseason.

But now what? Can CP3 really be called upon to play 40 minutes again in this game? Same with Griffin in what has become a really physical series in the paint? If Jordan is out there for 40 minutes again, is he going to shoot 30 percent from the foul line when Gregg Popovich starts ordering him to be hacked?

Outside of Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford, this LA bench has been atrocious in this series. Matt Barnes and Glen Davis have almost as many fouls in this series as points, and men like Lester Hudson, Spencer Hawes, Dahntay Jones and Hedo Turkoglu just don't do it for us.

It's all just worth keeping in mind when it comes to live betting on Saturday, even though we have yet to see fatigue really prove to be a factor down the stretch of these games in this series.

ROAD WARRIORS

The Spurs might not have home court advantage in this series, but the one thing they do have is a lot of experience in games like this. Since 1997, they have won a whopping 60 road games in the playoffs, which is 13 more than any other team in the NBA in that stretch.

The big question we have here is whether or not the Spurs can reach back one more time. The Gregg Popovich/Tim Duncan/Manu Ginobili/Tony Parker combination has come a long way and has been one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history, but losing this game would be the end of it all in all likelihood.

Just remember that the Clippers have had a history of choking these games away. They were beaten in Game 7 by Oklahoma City last season at home in what probably amounted to be their best shot to get to the NBA Finals, and they are 0-3 ATS in Game 7s in this recent era of greatness for the team.

FIELD GOAL MADNESS

The fact of the matter is that this should be a higher scoring series than what we have seen to date. The total is set at just 204.5 in this game, and we just aren't sure that that is going to be high enough when you consider all of what is going on.

Remember that a number of Los Angeles possessions are killed by fouling Jordan to put him on the line automatically. Even still, there have been an average of 168.3 field goal attempts per game in this series, which should easily generate 170 points from the field. When you add in all of the foul shots, you should have well into the 210s in points more often than not.

The shooting though, hasn't been great. The teams are shooting just 45.0 percent from the floor in this series combined. That won't get the job done for the over, but we have to think that the shooting is going to be a lot better in this game than it has been in Games 5 and 6.
