The Houston Rockets (65-33 SU, 58-40 ATS) might have gotten one game in the Western Conference Finals.
But they are going to be really hard-pressed to find another season-saving win on Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors (78-18 SU, 53-42-1 ATS).
ODDS ANALYSIS
The Rockets will likely once again be double-digit underdogs, which is proof that the oddsmakers don't believe they’ve moved the dial one bit after winning Game 4. We do expect to see the total rise just a bit from the 214.5 it sat on this past Monday after watching a whopping 243 points hit the board Monday night.
INJURY REPORT
Stephen Curry took a huge tumble in the second quarter which saw him sit out the better part of a full quarter of action with what was feared to be a concussion. We have to assume that he is okay at this point knowing that he came back in the game, but concussions are always tricky, and this is a situation which should be monitored.
What else should be noted is that Dwight Howard could find himself suspended for this game. If the NBA upgrades his flagrant foul committed in Game 4 against Andrew Bogut to a flagrant 2, he will sit this one out with a mandatory one-game suspension for picking up four flagrant points in the postseason.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"Is everybody positive? I'm positive. I'm going to stay positive. That's all I can control is me, but you know, I'm going to make sure that I do whatever I can to keep my mind position. We're in a tough situation, but there's no reason for us to be moping around." – Rockets center Dwight Howard on the mountain left to climb in this series if Houston wants to become the first team in NBA history to win from down 3-0 in a series
BETTING TRENDS
- The Warriors are 21-11 ATS in their last 32 games versus teams with winning percentages of at least .600.
- The Rockets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
- The UNDER is 9-2 in Golden State's last 11 games, though it should be noted that Game 4 flew over the total in this series.
KEY STATS
37: The number of three-point shots the Rockets and Warriors combined for in Game 4, the most in a single playoff game in NBA history. The previous record was just 33 threes, which shows you just how amazing the outside shooting was in Game 4.
43: The number of free throws which the Rockets shot in Game 4. Granted, a lot of that was due to James Harden crashing to the rim and getting 13 free throws, but Josh Smith was intentionally fouled six times to send him to the stripe 12 times. He only made 3-of-12.
ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION
The Rockets were a nice story against LA, but a dream isn't going to happen again in this series.
Klay Thompson and Curry finally got on the same page and started to be explosive at the same time towards the end of Game 4, and if that continues into Game 5, look out.
We suspect that these two men are going to go off for 60, and maybe even 70 points between them on Wednesday night, and that parlayed with a poorer shooting percentage than the 56.6 percent which Houston shot on Monday should end this series without much muss or fuss.
