NBA ATS Picks - Golden State Warriors at Oklahoma City Thunder Game Preview

2018-NBA-Warriors-at-Thunder-preview-Betting-Odds

The Oklahoma City Thunder has played quite well at home all year, and another victory in their friendly confines would be huge next time out. Oklahoma City is in the jumble of teams fighting for playoff positioning in the Western Conference and would love to pick up a win this week. The Thunder will face off against the defending champion Golden State Warriors, who are getting healthier but will still be without former MVP Stephen Curry.

This should be an intriguing matchup. Golden State may be slightly more talented even without Curry but plays on the road. Furthermore, the Warriors are basically locked into the No. 2 seed in the West while Oklahoma City will have much more of a sense of urgency to come away with a victory.

Odds Analysis

The Warriors are 55-21 straight up and 32-43-1 against the spread. Golden State has covered in 16 of 37 attempts on the road this season. The Warriors have only been the underdog four times this season, all of which have come recently because the team has dealt with a spate of injuries. It will be interesting to see if the oddsmakers peg them as the favorite or underdogs in this matchup.

The Thunder is 45-33 straight up and 32-45-1 against the spread. Oklahoma City has gone 16-22-1 against the spread at home this season. The Thunder is 26-39-1 against the spread as the favorite and has covered in half of its 12 games as the underdog on the year.

Injury Report

Warriors star guard Stephen Curry will miss the rest of the season and at least the first round of the playoffs with an MCL sprain. He is one of the main reasons why Golden State has built a dynasty over the past several years.

Golden State has gotten back fellow stars Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green from minor injuries of late. The Warriors were missing all four at one time recently and understandably took some lumps on their sterling record. But with three of the four stars back the Warriors are still one of the best teams in the NBA.

It will be interesting to see how the group fares against a solid foe on the road without Curry.

Matchup To Watch

Russell Westbrook vs. Kevin Durant -- Even though they don’t play the same position, these former teammates and close friends have a big-time rivalry which sprung after Durant left the Thunder for Golden State a couple of seasons back.

Westbrook took the departure hard and always seems intent on playing well when Durant is on the floor. Durant is just as competitive and is hoping to get the upper hand.

Without Curry on the floor, Durant will be the clear go-to guy for the Warriors. If he can outplay Westbrook it should give Golden State a solid chance at coming away with the road victory.

This is a tough one to gauge without Curry on the court. The Warriors still have a really good team, but the Thunder is at home and needs this win badly in order to make a run at home court advantage in the first round of the postseason.

Oklahoma City is the pick to win this game, and since the spread should be small one way or the other, the Thunder is also the choice to cover in NBA basketball betting lines.

NBA Odds: Thunder 114, Warriors 112
