Oklahoma City will look to pick up a victory on the road this week in a matchup with the Denver Nuggets. It won’t be easy, as Denver has won four of its past six games and has the advantage of playing this one at home. The Thunder has the star power but this game could definitely go either way because it’s not easy for opposing teams to play in Denver.
This war on the floor will go down Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 10:30 p.m. ET at Pepsi Center. The game will be televised live on TNT.
We'll have NBA odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the NBA Thursday schedule.
Odds Analysis
Oklahoma City will likely be the better team this season and therefore should be favored in this one despite playing on the road. The Thunder’s defense has been impressive thus far which could help keep the scoring total down.
The NBA has seen an explosion in scoring but this one could be a slower affair.
Key Stat
7.2 — That’s Oklahoma City’s positive point-differential on the season, which is the second-best mark in the Western Conference. It doesn’t yet jive with the Thunder’s overall record, which is under .500, but it is a good sign for the future.
Oklahoma City has been on the wrong end of close losses, and those tend to even out over time. The Thunder has also blown out some opponents and will aim to keep racking those up. While win-loss records are often a good indicator of a team’s ability, point-differential is often even more accurate and predictive.
Keep that in mind because oddsmakers certainly know it.
Player To Watch
Russell Westbrook — Westbrook hasn’t been as electric as last season for Oklahoma City, but he’s still averaging nearly a triple double through nine games. Westbrook is putting up 20.1 points, 11.4 assists and 9.0 rebounds per contest. His best performance of the season so far came against the Pacers on October 25th when he finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 16 assists.
Westbrook doesn’t need to up the monster numbers he did last year because he’s got more help on offense this season in George and Anthony. The pair has looked solid early in the season. Anthony is averaging 20.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. George is leading Oklahoma City with 21.0 points per game, while adding 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals.
Westbrook doesn’t need to do it all this year, but he remains the engine on offense. When Oklahoma City is in a bind, it will often look to the player who has done it for them in the past. Westbrook still has insane athleticism and is in line for another spot at the All-Star game this season.
Free NBA ATS Picks
Oklahoma City should start to ascend the Western Conference standings soon, and a win in this game will help that cause. The Nuggets have been solid early on and should be competitive despite not having nearly the same type of star power as the Thunder.
However, Westbrook could be in line for a big night, which would help his team emerge victorious. The Nuggets are scrappy so if the spread is too large they are the team to take, especially at home. However, Oklahoma City is the choice to win this matchup and get to .500.
NBA Odds: Thunder 103, Nuggets 99
