There are only four teams left to fight it out for the Larry O'Brien Trophy, but with the Spurs out of the way, there are really only two teams left who commonly are thought to have any chance whatsoever to win it all.
NBA Futures Odds at BookMaker.eu
Golden State Warriors -185
Cleveland Cavaliers +185
Oklahoma City Thunder +700
Toronto Raptors +5000
Golden State Warriors ( -185 )
It's hard to not like the Warriors at this point. Stephen Curry has had several days to get himself definitively healthy, and we know that his ankle shouldn't be a problem again barring another fluky issue. With Curry healthy, the Dubs are practically unbeatable. They were odds-on favorites to win the title before the Spurs got knocked out of the playoffs, and now, they're in an even stronger position now that Oklahoma City has taken care of San Antonio.
Let's not forget that Curry, in spite of his ridiculous showing in Game 4 against Portland off the bench, is shooting just 39.0 percent from beyond the arc. If he gets back up near his season average, look out. He and Klay Thompson could take this postseason over once again.
Cleveland Cavaliers ( +185 )
Would you believe that LeBron James isn't even the leading scorer for the Cavaliers in the playoffs? Kyrie Irving is averaging 24.4 points per game in the second season, and that's crucial for giving James a little bit of a rest. He doesn't have to play hero basketball on every possession, though at some point when the level of competition becomes a little more serious in the NBA Finals, he might have to do so.
But the Cavaliers are playing strong defense right now and are running up and down the court. Both Irving and J.R. Smith are knocking down more than half of their three-point attempts, and if that keeps up, this is the most dangerous team in the league.
There's no doubt that Cleveland is much better served to fight it out for seven games against Golden State this year than it was a season ago.
Oklahoma City Thunder ( +700 )
Even though the Thunder almost certainly aren't winning a title this year, they might actually be the biggest winners in these NBA playoffs. Beating San Antonio in six games really might be the difference between keeping and losing Kevin Durant in the offseason when he's a free agent.
It's the size which led to Oklahoma City beating the Spurs, but this series against Golden State is going to make it really hard to do the same thing. Everyone on the floor aside from Andrew Bogut can shoot threes for the Warriors, and we're just not sure if all five players are out on the perimeter if the Thunder are going to keep up.
It's tough to imagine a scenario in which they beat both the Warriors and the Cavaliers.
Toronto Raptors ( +5000 )
You might think this is a decent price on the Raptors, but we wouldn't bother with 500 to 1 on them. All that Toronto needing seven games to beat the Pacers and Heat proved to us is that it needs to take a lot of steps in the right direction to have a shot against Cleveland.
Still, it's got to be a thrill for the Raptors to be in the Eastern Conference Finals. There's no consolation prize for Toronto at this point, though it'll be interesting to see how Drake reacts when James and the gang are crippling his team.
