The Blazers had a 17-point advantage in Game 3 but blew it, giving Golden State an insurmountable lead. Portland is at home but will be the underdog and it’s going to be hard emotionally to play well in this one knowing that the season is all but over.
Golden State was never in danger of losing this series, but winning last time out sets up a shot at the sweep and would allow the Warriors to rest up before their next-round series.
This war on the floor will go down Monday, April 24, 2017, at 10:30 p.m. ET at Moda Arena in Portland, Oregon. The game will be televised live on TNT.
We'll have NBA odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the NBA Monday schedule.
NBA Odds
The Warriors were five-point favorites in Game 3, and when they were facing the big deficit it seemed like they could lose and certainly wouldn’t cover. However, they used a big second half to grab the lead and covered narrowly in the 119-113 victory.
Golden State is now 69-15 straight up and 41-39-4 against the spread. The Warriors are 19-21-1 against the spread on the road this season. Golden State is 39-38-4 against the spread as the favorite.
Portland is 41-43 straight up and also 41-43 against the spread. The Blazers have covered in 22 of 41 home games this season. Portland is 17-21 against the spread as the underdog on the season.
Last Time Out
Stephen Curry was fantastic in Game 3, scoring 34 points and adding eight assists to lead the Warriors to the comeback victory. Golden State looked on the verge of falling as Portland threatened to add a touch of intrigue to the series, but it didn’t happen.
Javale McGee was impressive off the bench, scoring 14 points and grabbing four rebounds as Golden State outscored the Blazers by 24 points when he was on the court.
C.J. McCollum was good for Portland, scoring 32 points including 6-of-9 from three-point line to give his team a chance at the upset. Damian Lillard added 31 points but was minus-14 when he was on the floor.
Injury Report
Kevin Durant missed his second consecutive game with a calf injury. It doesn’t seem to be a major injury, but with the Warriors in complete control they don’t seem in a hurry to rush him back.
If Durant is 100 percent, it would make sense to get him back on the court in Game 4 to knock off any rust heading into the second round series. However, Golden State wants to make sure not to risk an aggravation to the injury, so it will continue to remain cautious.
Durant finished his first regular season with averages of 25.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, shooting 53.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three-point range. While Durant wouldn’t be needed to win this game, his presence would likely affect the spread by a couple of points. It is something to watch closely heading into the Game 4 matchup.
Free NBA ATS Pick
The Blazers had their shot at making this a series in Game 3 and were in control early on, but they couldn’t hold on. That’s probably all she wrote for Portland.
The Blazers are outmanned in this one, and it will be especially so if Durant comes back in Game 4. Golden State is likely smelling blood and will want to pick up the sweep so it can allow Durant to rest up for the Western Conference semifinals.
Golden State will be the road favorite in this one, and even so it should be able to cover the spread. This might be a sloppier game than in the past, which means the “under” may be the smarter play.
NBA Odds: Warriors 115, Blazers 104
