The Golden State Warriors are on pace to make history and need to go just 7-2 in their last nine games to beat the Chicago Bulls to log the greatest regular season record of all time. Now, the Warriors will try to pick up a win against the lowly Utah Jazz in order to reach No. 73.

SCHEDULE

Golden St. is about to play three games in four nights, but all three games should be pretty easy for the Warriors to handle. The Warriors have to play the 76ers, Wizards and Jazz during the three in four days and none but the Jazz will be playoff teams at the end of the day.

As for the Jazz, they will be pretty rested with a day off before and after the Warriors game.

INJURIES

The Warriors are pretty banged up right now. Even though none of their starters are hurt, they will be without some key players for their game against the Jazz. Brandon Rush, Andre Iguodala and Festus Ezeli will all be out for the game. Without those three, the Dubs won’t be able to rebound and play defense up to their full potential.

Utah is pretty healthy though with no injuries listed on the injury report and the Jazz should be pretty healthy for this one.

KEY MATCHUP

Stephen Curry hasn’t been playing at the insane level he had been when the season started and struggled in the Warriors game against Philadelphia on Sunday night. Curry hit less than 50 percent of his shots and only hit 2-of-9 three pointers against Philadelphia in a season where he has established himself as the best three point shooter in NBA history.

Instead, Klay Thompson carried the way like he’s done lately and took over the game. Thompson hit 15 of his 27 overall shots and 50 percent of his three pointers on the way to dropping 40 points against the 76ers on Sunday. He has been absolutely on fire during the Warriors’ last three games, dropping 40 twice, and hitting over 50 percent from the field and at least seven threes a game over his last three.

Utah was out of the playoff just a week ago, but won eight of its last 10 in order to make its way to the seventh spot in the Western Conference with eight games remaining on the docket. The Jazz have a lot of young to semi-young talent, between Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, and Rudy Gobert.

Gobert is hitting 55.6 percent from the floor and leads the team with 10 rebounds per game. Hayward leads the team in scoring, while Favors is hitting 51.1 percent of his shots from the field.

ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION

Golden State is an impressive 21-15-2 ATS away from home this year in a season where it is threatening the NBA record for the best regular season record ever. The Warriors have been struggling with the lofty spreads they’ve been tasked with covering lately though, and have failed to cover four of their last five.

The Jazz are both 37-37 overall and against the closing pointspread. Utah has played a preponderance of games under the total this season with 42 of its 72 games combining to go under the total including seven of its last nine.

It’s almost impossible to say that the Warriors are going to lose this one against an inferior team, but can the Jazz cover the spread? They are young and talented and seem to be peaking at the right time while Golden State is only looking to post wins and doesn’t care how it gets them.

Look for the Jazz to cover this one with the outright highly unlikely.
