NBA Odds - Houston Rockets at Phoenix Suns Game Preview

Rockets-at-Suns-NBATV-bm

Even though the Suns play this game at home, they are among the worst teams in the NBA and will be the underdogs. Phoenix has some bright spots offensively and the future could be bright, but the defense is porous and the Rockets will be licking their chops in this one.

Prepare for an entertaining back-and-forth game, but one the Suns will have a tough time winning because of their lack of defense.

Don't miss the hardwood action from Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix, Arizona at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Catch every moment of the game live on NBATV.

We'll have NBA odds available for this and every game on the NBA Sunday schedule.

Odds Analysis

The Rockets are 51-23 straight up and 42-32 against the spread. Houston has played in 36 road games this season and has performed very well, covering in 24 of them. The Rockets are 32-29 against the spread as the favorite on the season.

The Suns are 22-53 straight up and 36-38-1 against the spread. Phoenix has played in 36 home games this season and covered in half of those. The Suns are 33-28-1 against the spread as the favorite this season.

Player to Watch

Devin Booker -- Phoenix has no chance at the playoffs this year, but there is at least one reason for Suns fans to be excited and his name is Devin Booker. In just his second season in the league, the 20-year-old former Kentucky star has showed a lot of promise and he had a breakout performance last week.

Booker put up 70 points against the Boston Celtics on March 24th in a game played on the road at the TD Garden. With that mark, Booker became the youngest player in league history to score more than 60 points in a game.

The game against Boston was by far his best of his career, but he has been the motor for the Suns offense all season long. He currently leads the team in scoring this season averaging 21.6 points a game. Booker has recently battled an injury but returned to action earlier this week and should be good to go for this showdown.

Key Stat

31. That’s how many points the Rockets defeated the Suns by in the latest meeting between these two teams on February 11th. In fact, all three wins against Phoenix have been blowouts for the Rockets this year.

Collectively, the Rockets have outscored the Suns 389-328 in the first three games played between these two teams and will look to make it four straight this Sunday in Phoenix. Houston has one of the best offenses in the league propelled by MVP candidate James Harden.

The Rockets average 116.5 points per game, nearly a full 10 points more than the Suns which put up 106.9 a game. Houston comes into this matchup after a tough week with two matchups against Golden State and a game against the Jazz, but should still be favored in this matchup.

Harden is going to be able to do whatever he wants in this game and is going to put up monster numbers. Booker should score a lot, but that’s not the end of the court that is the issue for Phoenix.

The Rockets should surpass 120 points, and while this one may be closer than the other three games between the teams this year, it will be Houston which once again emerges victorious. Check out the scoring total in this one. It is going to be high.

NBA Odds: Rockets 123, Suns 118
