The Los Angeles Clippers (58-28 SU, 39-46-1 ATS) responded in a big time way over the weekend, beating the San Antonio Spurs (57-29 SU, 43-41-2 ATS) on their home court to take back the edge in this series. Game 5 though, is going to be a pivotal one on Tuesday night.
PLAYING "PADDY" CAKE
Patrick Mills isn't going to be recognized as the star of this series so far for the Spurs, but perhaps he should be. He has come off of the bench and spelled Tony Parker incredibly well, and San Antonio is +20 when he is on the court thus far.
Mills hit a couple massive threes in Game 2 especially, the game which initially turned the tide of this series and kept the Spurs from falling two games behind.
Even though Parker is coming off of the best game he has played in this series to date, he still doesn't look quite right to us. All of his various injuries and his general age bother us quite a bit, and we aren't sure that he is going to be able to get through the rest of this series.
Believe it or not, when it comes to live betting, we would prefer backing the men in silver and black when Mills is out there running the show as opposed to Parker.
TEST OF FATIGUE FOR CLIPS
We keep mentioning this game in and game out for the Clippers, but it is still worth thinking about. In Game 4, Glen Davis, Austin Rivers and Hedo Turkoglu combined to play 38 minutes. The rest of the minutes were played by Chris Paul, J.J. Redick, Blake Griffin, Matt Barnes, DeAndre Jordan and Jamal Crawford.
At some point in these playoffs, Doc Rivers' men are going to break down. It's going to happen at some point. It's just a matter of when.
From Game 3 to Game 4, there was a bit of a reprieve for the LA starters. Thanks to the blowout nature of the game, no one played more than 33 minutes for the Clip Joint, plus there was a day off on either side of Game 3 to help rest as well.
Now is when the series is going to get interesting. The two teams are playing on just one day of rest the rest of the way, and every off day is a travel day, which will only make lives harder on these vets who are putting in so many minutes.
The Clippers might have played well in the fourth quarter on Sunday, but keep in mind that fatigue is going to have to be an issue at some point, if not in this series, than certainly somewhere down the line.
CP3 POINT PRODUCTION
The fact of the matter is that the Clippers go as Chris Paul takes them. CP3 had 34 points and assisted on 17 others on Sunday, accounting either directly or indirectly for over 40 percent of the team's scoring.
Watch Paul's turnover count closely, and you'll probably figure out where to go in live betting in doing so. Paul had six turnovers in Game 3 of this series, a 100-73 whitewashing that was never really close.
He hasn't had more than three turnovers in a game aside from that since March 29. The Clippers, of course, have only lost three games since that point.
It is worth remembering as well that the Clips probably would have beaten the Spurs in Game 2 if not for Blake Griffin's untimely turnover. Paul played well enough to win that game, and there was a huge opportunity to bet on the Clippers in live betting when they were down by double-digits late on. CP3 was one of the major reasons for the comeback. He'll be the reason that the Clips do or do not come back and win Game 5 as well.
