La'Porsha Renae for the win? I don't think so. But that's just me. This is "Idol," after all; the American public chooses the winner. Right?

Renae is the clear favorite, with her odds stretching their legs this past week, hitting -190 here at BookMaker.eu. I still think she's ripe for a headline-grabbing Chris Daughtry-esque bump as we get closer to the end of this season, which marks - in case you've been living under a rock - the end of the series as well.

I've said from the start that this was going to wind up being Renae versus Dalton Rapattoni at the end, and the lederboard reflects that. Rappatoni trails Renae as the favorite, with +320 odds. Rappatoni eked through this week, and has to begin exuding the confidence he has while performing whenever that camera is on him, as opposed to sitting there looking like he's going to break down and cry all the time. It's unbecoming of a wannabe.

That said, the flipside can be even worse. Case in point: the excruciatingly confident Trent Harmon, who sits on the lederboard at +600. This guy is extremely difficult to watch, with his disconcerting winking at everyone, including the stars the producers bring in to coach the hopefuls. His winking at Sia this week just before he sang her hit "Chandelier" was enough for me to Tweet a prayer that he gets cut loose and soon. Then he went on to do a great job with the song. Oh well.

Mackenzie Bourg scraped the bottom this week, and entered the Top 4 with a wobbly +1320. The kid has promise and performs with a real ease. There have been weeks he looked like he could cause a real upset, but we're down to the wire here, and some of the other contenders are bringing it way too consistently for potential pin-ups Bourg and Rappatoni to have any misfires. La'Porsha hasn't had a one and Trent - as cloying and unlikable as he is - is a consistent performer.

Sonika, who has had a history of barely making it through, didn't pull that off this week. Predictably.

The episode ended with Rappatoni singing Sia's "Bird Set Free," and while he did a solid job on the song (and the audience and judges definitely agreed) he had to go and cry at the end of the performance. Will that help or hurt? I guess we'll see.
