OliviaRox, “Unconditionally” Rank: Third

You're going for broke if you're going for this particular Katy Perry tune. Big notes, as opposed to "California Gurls." But hitting those notes is what gets you the crown. Jennifer encouraged her to really focus in on those big notes, too.

Gianna Isabella, “Listen” Rank: Tenth

In her lead up package, we found out that mom Brenda K. Starr still tours. So, a gig as mom's back-up singer looms. Tackling not just a Beyonce hit, but a hit from the musical "Dreamgirls" was ambitious. Unfortunately, it showcased the lack of maturity in her voice, even in her stronger moments. During the big runs, she clearly struggled to get on top of the note.

Lee Jean, “Skinny Love” Rank: Seventh

15-year-old Lee Jean - yep, the same age as the reality show itself - took on “Skinny Love” without departing too far from the original. Good move.

Avalon Young, “Stitches” Rank: Eighth

Avalon was visibly nervous, which is, of course, understandable. But also something you simply have to get over. Her runs - in a song that doesn't have any - were filled with unintentional vibrato, and at the end, she legitimately seemed relieved that it’s over. I was, too.

DaltonRapattoni, “Hey There Delilah” Rank: Fourth

The least ambitious from this front-runner yet, Dalton turned up the tempo and gave it that punk rock vibe that he’s inevitably going to come to be known for. His rearrangements are quite a strength here, and he's going to be tough to beat.

Tristan McIntosh, “Nothin’ Like You” Rank: Ninth

It seemed like her voice was stuck in the back of her throat, and when she went for the big runs, her voice got trapped and couldn't make it forward. The judges commented on the fact that maybe she should just try and be 15 instead of attacking a song like an experienced artist. Ouch.

MacKenzieBourg, “I See Fire” Rank: Sixth

Dalton's biggest competition took on Lee Jean’s initial audition song, and shined more brightly Wednesday night versus here.

La’PorshaRenae, “Diamonds” Rank: First

You want flash you got it! And her rendition of “Diamonds” was justnearlyspot on. La’Porsha showed up to win Thursday night.

SonikaVaid, “Bring Me to Life” Rank: Second

Sonikafinallywent after something that isn’t a modern day standard: Evanescence. Remember them? She crushed the beginning, and then got shaky. Still, Sonika’s performance and approach should be lauded enough that she glides through to the top 8 next week.

Trent Harmon, “Like I Can” Rank: Fifth

I t seemed like Sam Smith’s song was continuously slipping away from him. His runs were good enough, but good enough won't get you much farther from this point on.
