Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd: 23/30 The deaf winner of America’s Next Top Modelhas been promoted as a “supermodel” on Dancing With the Stars. Mediocre start.
Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold: 23/30 Dancing their opening cha cha to Boyz II Men’s first No. 1 record “Motown Philly” Wanya immediately showed that despite not being an overly choreographed singing group, he still has some moves. Strong start.
Ginger Zee and Valentin Chmerkovskiy: 23/30 DWTS giddily went with the Chief Meteorologist fromGood Morning Americaover, presumably, Al Roker. Nice move. New mom Ginger came out with her guns blazing - and by that I do mean her considerably toned...well...guns. Sure, she's breast-feeding off-stage, which somehow unsettles her partner, but Val just might be playing it up for laughs, seasoned vet that he is.
Antonio Brown and Sharna Burgess: 21/30 The best wide receiver in the business (according to him anyway) performed a valiant, fire-footed quickstep despite his significant early struggles “taking orders from a little Australian.”
Marla Maples and Tony Dovolani: 21/30 People still think of her as “the girl who married Donald Trump,” but Marla’s over 50 now, and Donald is the talk of the town while she just might wind up being the toast. Tony, who’s used to partnering the token old ladies with limited mobility, has nothing to complain about with sparkling diamond Marla.
Von Miller and Witney Carson: 21/30 Super Bowl MVP Miller has his work cut out for him, especially as he is not the only pro-athlete in the line-up this year. There's more than ever in fact.
Paige Vanzant and Mark Ballas: 21/30 The 21-year-old UFC fighter is excited to do something girly for a change. The enthusiasm will only get her so far, however; she's occasionally graceful in the ring, and needs to get to it here, too.
Kim Fields and Sasha Farber: 20/30 It’s safe to say that after their opening cha cha set the tone for the entire high-energy premiere, the Real Housewife star andFacts of Life/Living Single actress is “a whole lot of fierceness in this tiny package,” according to Carrie Ann. Tootie's gonna bring it.
Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe: 20/30 The middle child fromFull(andFuller)Housedidn't exactly blast off on premiere night, but give her a minute. She's done a whole lot of dancing on her other hit ABC series, and might just need to get into the groove.
Mischa Barton and Artem Chigvintsev: 16/30 TV’s Marissa Cooper is out of her league here, earning low, low marks from both the panel and the twitterverse on night one. Len pulled no punches after their jilted tango. “That wasn’t a dance,” he sputtered. “That was just walking!”
Doug Flutie and Karina Smirnoff: 15/30 Speaking of the twitterverse, it was high on Flutie all night. His fans are vocal already. That said, the former NFL star is devoid of rhythm.
Geraldo Rivera and Edyta Sliwinska: 13/30 The senior Fox News correspondent whiffed it on the cha cha. An overachiever that has embarrassed himself on live TV before, he’s the most likely to depart next week.
Next Monday is Latin Night, followed by Memorable Year Night and Disney Night.
