The "Most Memorable Year" episode is always a blast. Loaded with clips from the contestants' pasts, it's huge trip down Memory Lane, and they dance it.
Jodie Sweetin and pro Keo Motsepe (Foxtrot)— Jodieand Keo trail two other couples on theBookMakerleaderboard, but their foxtrot was easily the evening’s most poignant routine, and many people believe the highlight of this most recent episode. Sweetin's +376 odds will only get better. The Fuller Housestar combined herpowerful story of sobriety with an ease on the dance floor. Judges’ Score: 23/30
Nyle DiMarco and pro Peta Murgatroyd (Tango) —Nyle and Peta kicked their tango into overdrive when the music hit its peak, and Nyle proved he’s more than capable of sinking into the pocket of a routine, especially one as sharp and sexy as the tango. Judges’ Score: 25/30
Marla Maples and pro Tony Dovolani (Jive) —The judges heaped praise on Donald's former flame, but I think Marla didn’t bring nearly enoughenergy to the jive’s many kicks and flicks. Judges’ Score: 21/30
Mischa Barton and pro Artem Chigvintsev (Samba) —Cue up Goodman’s Week 1 criticism: “That wasn’t dancing — that waswalking!” I’m glad that Mischa was able to find even a modicum of joy in her time on the DWTS floor, but even her “best” performance to date lacked any sort of power or crispness. Judges’ Score: 18/30
Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold (Waltz) -All the guys from Boyz II Men finally showed up to support their bro as well as their just-recorded cover of the national anthem (in remembrance of when they sang it during the closing ceremony of the terror-stricken 1996 Olympics). Judges Score: 24/30
Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas -Mark returned after slipping a disc only a week ago. Still strong at +369 on the BookMaker leaderboard, Paige is consistent.
Kim Fields and Sasha Farber (Foxtrot) - Kim donned the old school uniform and played Tootie for the panting crowd, with Mrs. Garrett herself in the stands. It was a strong performance, but Fields got way too excited when the kind words were uttered. That said, her appallingly low +1791 odds will get tweaked. Judges Score: 22/30
Ginger Zee and Valentin Chmerkovskiy -Zee is so likable you just have to root for her. She opened the show in fine style, even if her newborn baby being ushered out to her at performance end was a bit much.Judges Score: 21/30
Antonio Brown and Sharna Burgess (Foxtrot) - The NFL star scored big points with those watching at home this week, thanks to his namesake, Antonio Jr., who co-starred this week in Antonio and Sharna’s foxtrot. Judges Score: 20/30
Doug Flutie and Karina Smirnoff (Waltz) - 20/30This week’s waltz honored Doug’s parents, who died on the same day mere months ago in 2015. He did a nice job, and then broke down in tears. Bottom of the barrel odds of +2688 are no doubt changing as I write this. Judges Score: 20/30
Von Miller and Witney Carson - 20/30This year is his most memorable, of course. He’s the MVP of the Super Bowl. How much cooler can you get? Judges Score: 20/30
