MasterChef Junior Odds to Win - Catering Ramsay's Party

MasterChef-Junior-Picks

While the Top 6 will be narrowed down shortly, our young cooks prepared to face one of the most stressful challenges yet: catering a Gordon Ramsay party. Split into two teams (chosen by last week’s winners, Addison and Amaya), they were responsible for feeding 20 of Gordon’s friends. But, that's not all. They had to make two of Ramsay's staple dishes. Time to stand that kitchen heat, wee ones.

Once the kids showed up it was straight to work. They bee-lined to the outdoor kitchen and got a quick demo on the menu items from Gordon, a prize in and of itself. Find MasterChef Junior odds at BookMaker.eu

THE APPETIZER

For the first course of the lunch the kids would be serving pan-seared snapper. Each team was responsible for 13 plates, all to be served at the same time. Timing and good team communication were everything in this challenge.

The Red Team: Amaya, Zac, and Avery Team Captain Amaya split up the work by having each chef focus on a different component of the dish. When Gordon caught on to this he wasn't happy. Having each person work on a component of the dish without solid communication was a bad move and each chef should be making four to five full plates. With this one change in strategy, the Red Team was able to refocus and pull together 13 great dishes.

They earned rave reviews from Gordon’s friends – who, in a charming reveal, it appears did not know children were at the helm.

The Blue Team: Addison, Kya, and JJ The Blue Team had the opposite cooking experience of the Red Team. Captain Addison is skilled enough in the kitchen to realize the best way to tackle this challenge was by having each chef cook complete dishes – just like Gordon’s advice. The only problem is that Addison is the only person on her team who really came to cook. This was surprising since Kya has been such a strong chef all season, but she and JJ were completely overwhelmed; they burned fish, forgot how to make simple sauces, and completely lost one portion of snapper – leaving Gordon with an empty plate to serve.

Thankfully, the Blue Team made up for this with taste. They earned mostly great reviews from the guests.

THE ENTRÉE

The already exhausted chefs cooked venison loin, a dish completely over their chef wannabe heads.

The Red Team: Amaya, Zac, and Avery Amaya cracked right away. The sheer amount of ingredients and steps to this dish were overwhelming, and she didn't communicate with her team at all. Once Gordon noted that all of her venison is overcooked, Amaya pretty much shut down.

Zac took command, leaving the judges impressed with his calm leadership and multi-tasking skills. Zac's odds of winning this thing leapt.

The Blue Team: Addison, Kya, and JJ Addison was back, making sure her team had all the support it needs and attempting to keep morale up. Sadly, as JJ was pulling the pans of searing hot venison out of the oven, he fumbledand the entire thing landed on Gordon’s foot.

In the end, they got all 13 plates finished for service. The guests were mixed on the Blue Team’s venison. Some found it completely on point and really well-seasoned, others noted that their venison was over-cooked.

The judges revealed that two members of the losing team would be going home.

Though the competition was close, the Red Team won, and Zac, Amaya, and Avery were all safe.

This left Addison, Kya, and JJ up for elimination. JJ and Kyathe one time front-runner – were sent home.
